It is easily treated, rarely serious, and highly contagious. It can be caused by viruses (most common), bacteria, as well as by a reaction to chemicals, pollution on the environment.          <description><![CDATA[<div>It is easy diagnosed by the red color and swelling of the eye. To determine what is causing the conjunctivitis, the doctor will look at the patient's history and will examine the infected eye.<br>Treatment is usually with cold compresses and artificial tears. If the disease is caused by a bacteria, an antibiotic may be necessary.</div>]]></description>
