         <description><![CDATA[<p>They are found in Laboratories and even in your house!</p><p>The Acids in Laboratories are usually more dangerous since they use it to make experiments</p><p>In the Laboratory at school there is usually Dilute acids such as:</p><p>-hydrochloric acid</p><p>-sulphuric acid</p><p>-nitric acid</p><p>They usually would have a warning symbol on their bottles, that symbol shows that it is dangerous</p><p>If that acid makes contact with your skin, your skin will become red or blistered. <span style="font-size: 13px;">If it does spill, you must wash it with a lot of water, otherwise you'll feel as if it is burning</span></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Bases are substances that react with acids and neutralize them. They are usually metal oxides, metal hyroxides, metal carbonates or metal hydrogen carbonates. Many bases do not dissolve in water. </p><p>If a base does dissolve in water, that is called an alkali</p><p>examples of bases:</p><p>-Copper oxide is a base because it will react with acids, but it is not an alkali because it does not dissolve in water.</p><p>-Sodium hydroxide is a base because it will react with acids and it is also an alkali because it dissolves in water.</p><p>All alkalis are bases, but not all bases are alkalis</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Then there are also acids in your house, such as:</p><p>-Ethanoic acid (in vinegar)</p><p>-Carbonic acid (in fizzy drinks)</p><p>-Tannic acid (in tea)</p><p>-Ascorbic acid (in vitamin C)</p><p>-Citric acid (in Lemons)</p><p>Acids have a sour taste, like vinegar, which contains ethanoic acids, and lemons which contain citric acid. These are safe to use in food, but still hurts if it gets into our eyes or in cuts.</p>]]></description>

They are just as dangerous as concentrated acids, but many people do not realise this.</p>]]></description>

Drain cleaners and oven cleaners usually contain sodium hydroxide.</p><p>You should wear gloves when using these substances, otherwise they will burn your skin.</p><p>Weak bases and alkalis are found in toothpaste, antacid tablets and baking powder. </p>]]></description>
