         <description><![CDATA[<div>Man's sperm fertilizes woman's ovum. Sperm penetrates the outer membrane of the ovum and makes the journey through the ovum's cytoplasm to penetrate the nucleus. The sperm's chromosomes become a part of the nuclear material in the fertilized ovum, now called a zygote.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Chromosomes in the nucleus of the cell are made up of DNA. Genes are "coded" sections of DNA. Genes, like chromosomes, come in matched pairs. Gene expression during transcription and translation is influenced by the environment of the cell. Different varieties of genes are alleles. The embryo gets alleles, one from each parent to determine a genotype. Such as one parent with attached ear lobes and one parent with unattached ear lobes.</div>]]></description>
