I really liked the Texas Two-Step activity because it gets students actively involved in their learning through movement and peer collaboration. It creates an energetic and engaging environment where students share their ideas, build on each other’s thinking, and move between partners to keep the activity fresh. I appreciate how it supports all types of learners by allowing them to use notes, visual aids, and thinking stems. It also gives me a chance to hear what students know in real time and quickly identify any misunderstandings.

I love doing MCQ horse races. Take one set of questions from AP Classroom or a released test (typically about 10 questions) and prep by cutting them into separate pieces. In AP Lit, when we do this, I give the groups an excerpt to read and the first question of the set. The group has to decide the correct answer and justify it in order to move their group's horse. If the answer is wrong or not justified well, I send them back to try again. The first group to complete all wins. My students love getting to do this because they're all very competitive, but it's also just a fun way for them to reason through the multiple choice questions.
