A big thank you to our parent volunteers that joined us in the woods behind the school for science class. The students thoroughly enjoyed all of the activities, such as measuring the depth of the snow, taking the snow’s temperature at different heights and tree bark rubbing. It was wonderful to see so many of the students (and parents) engaged in each activity!

Answering the "What if...?" Questions from Science Class

Tuesday’s outdoor science class sparked a lot of great questions about ice and snow, so we decided to bring some of the ice indoors to conduct a few experiments. There were a lot of “What if…” questions to answer! The students were curious about the rate ice or snow would melt under certain conditions. So, the students searched the classroom for items to wrap around some pieces of ice (e.g., newspaper, aluminum foil, and salt) to see which one would melt the quickest and slowest.

I hope you have a fun time discussing with your child the results of our experiment. If your child has any more questions or inquiries they want answered, let me know and we will try to accommodate their questions on Friday or at the beginning of next week.
