2. June 24, 1950: North Korea invaded South Korea. This was the start of the Korean War. From this point forward, over 1 million Koreans and 54,000 Americans would go on to die in their war efforts.
3. November 4, 1950: Chinese soldiers entered the war, supporting North Korea. 
4. April 11, 1951: President Truman fires US commander MacArthur due to his expressed frustrations about the US not doing enough in this war. 
5. March 1953: An armistice formally reunites North and South Korea again. During this time, the Korean War took place. As a result, we can say that it was a section of the larger Cold War conflict between the Soviet Union and the US. This war also created further divisions between the USSR and US, but it never led to a worldwide conflict between the 2 superpowers of the world. This war may have also led to our conception of North Korea today, with it being a military dictatorship with a strict leader and a place where the government controls the people. Also, this war further created the Soviet Union's image of being the one to spread communism around the world.
