My overall goal is to be able to gain enough knowledge to successful perform a comedy act at an open mic night. I am doing this because I’ve always wanted to become a comedian and learn more about the comedy industry. This is necessary and important because my dream job is to become a stand-up comedian and doing this will help me get exposure to performing my material and seeing  if I truly enjoy it and want to actually pursue it. Also, if I do end up liking it then I will have some experience and connections because of this. 
        This benefits me because again, I am gaining knowledge about how to perform a comedy act which is something I want to pursue for a future career. It also benefits me because I will be obtaining knowledge about the industry and if I don’t enjoy performing, then I will learn about the other aspects in comedy. 
         This is both academically and personally worthy because this is a leap into the real world and it takes confidence and courage. It is also unique since no one else is really doing this and it gives me an experience that not many others have. 
        This is a stretch of my current knowledge because I currently have written down comedy acts and what I would say when I perform. This will stretch my knowledge of techniques to use while performing and storytelling. I will measure success by gaining enough relevant knowledge to perform a comedy act at an open mic night. If even one person laughs and/or I feel satisfied with myself, then that is max success for me.

I have been putting all ideas down on paper and working out kinks. I have honestly just been brainstorming and writing down as many ideas as possible. My future plans are to finally have something fully composed to be prepared to attend and perform at an open mic night. I have been doing this because I turn 18 next week, which is usually the minimum age to attend or perform an open mic night. A lot of clubs are 21+ or need scheduling out months in advance, so it's been difficult to find an open mic that I would be able to attend. However, I have found a few options and know when and where I would be able to do my set. I plan on inviting my friends and my mom to come see my performances for support and so I can guarantee that I can have some people laugh at least. Wednesday’s are the night where those under 21 can come and perform an open mic night. Of course, it got shut down before I had the chance to go through with my final plan. Nonetheless, I still continued tweaking my comedy act which I have written down (or written in fragment sentences that only make sense to me) in various places such as a notebook in my room, the notes app on my phone, and random paper pads around my house. Even though I am not able to perform my comedy routine where I wanted, I will of course record myself doing it for Senior Summit. I might have to add some laugh tracks in to boost my confidence. After this journey of talking to Mr. Norfolk about his comedy industry story and him telling me how to go about mine. Countless conversations with my mom about what I should talk about. Hours of watching my favorite comedians routines to see what I like so much about them. I have decided that when the comedy club opens back up, I am still going to go and perform my act. It won’t be apart of my grade, obviously. It is basically unreadable to anyone but me. Honestly, it was a lot harder than I expected. I thought it would be easy to remember stories and funny jokes from over the years. I also thought it would be easy to write a script and get up and perform it. However, it was the opposite. It took time and effort and lots of episodes of me about to quit and settle for something I wasn’t satisfied with. It took a lot to capture what I truly think is funny because although comedy is for others entertainment, if it is not funny to me than I don’t want to present it. After getting a taste of what it could potentially be like to be comedian, I have definitely thought about different dream jobs I have.
