For the activities utilizing the introduction concept, what I would like the class to accomplish is a sense of “knowing” one another without physically being with one another. I would like to utilize the tech tool of “bitmoji” to create this digital avatar. I would like to have the student create their avatar and place them in their “hangout” spot. The assignment is to then list 5 items that highlight their individual personality that is in the Bitmoji’s environment. This way we feel like we can connect in regards to understanding interests, etc.

A class building activity we are going to engage in, is having the task of an in-house scavenger hunt for items that represent who they are and what they want to represent for themselves. We are going to utilize the “Go Game” application that allows students to take pictures and upload them straight to the teacher’s public account to filter and display. These scavenger hunt topics are going to be light and playful as well as one cherished item to show the accepting mentality.

Students will participate in team building by making a “model’ school while participating in groups of 2-8. Students will be appointed one of these 4 environments to make their model school: 1. Student body. 2. Activities in school. 3. Fundraising during school. 4. Club arrangements/dances on campus. We will utilize “Flipgrid” to record and insert the individual responses that is used to collaborate within the larger group. We will then utilize Powerpoint to bring all of the individual responses together on a level platform.

In order to promote a sense of accountability and have students showcase their skills of annotation, the class is going to go over the syllabus individually, and then as a whole. We are going to highlight due dates, circle key assignments listed, and make annotations on the different aspects of assignments on the syllabus. The annotations will show the difference of point value and the concept of what is to be understood by going forward. The tech tool we will utilize is Kami. I have found that Kami is a perfect application to show case students annotating skills.

The format that we will communicate with students is through google class room, aeries email (given that aeries is the district preferred application), and also through the Remind app. For parents we will utilize the aeries email software and the Remind application for all parent communication. Mass emails regarding month to month projects and weekly updates on current grades are going to be sent to the teachers and parents. This way we can keep students and parents updated.
