This case reminds me of the Emmett Till case where a 14 year old boy was accused of sexual harassment by a white woman and soon the boy was kidnapped and killed. Emmett till's mother then held an open casket funeral to show the people what was taken from her. the media allowed for thousands of people both in the north and south to see her child and make it so that the case would not go unheard of. sparking outrage and fueling the movement against the treatment of African Americans.   However the news only worked to spread the word and not the truth by justifying, contradicting, and defending the case based on different beliefs.

The idea of race can negatively impact the development of young poc because of all the false narratives that are spread through social media. Some could grow up being insecure or their race/ethnicity because theyre being exposed to racist online news and groups showing them how hated the are by people. Such as the KKK and other racist organizations.

The only way things can continue to change is if we keep discussing it and educating others/ourselves. That's why Black History Month is so important, because it allows the media to discuss real history and things that others have tried to sweep under the rug, that are really important for us to learn.
