At this moment I'm interested in computational thinking and educational robotics and this allows me to work on different skills. It needs a path that is clear to the teacher, but open to all the variables that the class offers: there is a lesson similar to another one!

I think the video describes very well the future of technology in school, but there are two aspects:

1.- Evolution of technology in the short, medium and long term.

Some of the trends described are at your fingertips and you are already working with them. However there are some of them that still sound a bit to science fiction.

2.- Which of the trends described will we see applied in a class?

In what way will artificial intelligence (for example) be applied to education?. How will it affect the methodologies applied in a classroom?. How will technological development affect the curriculum?

While looking at the glorious wave that takes our technological hopes and whims to the sky and then falls disastrously, I cannot but feel that we must get centred again and revert to the core of our focus (especially as educators), which is the human being. Caring for the human factor may very well turn out to be the very element deciding for the eventual success of a tool or service.
This said, and getting to the topic, I was disappointed to find that the audio of Stephen Downes's presentation was unclear, as he seems to be a very interesting person. Jason Ohler seems to have great wisdom and attention to the human factor. They describe scenarios that are very far from my reality. In turn, I am an alien to most of my fellow teachers' eyes, even though I am just moderately flipping and differentiating my teaching through the use of a LMS (Edmodo).

I find very useful flipped classroom, MOOC and all the technologies that allow to personalize learning to the maximum, so that every student can learn when and where he decides. I love makerspaces too, as a way of complementing personalized learning with producing cooperative and creative outcomes.

MOOCs, flipped classroom, mobile device management. I think the authoring costs will be too high for personalised learning analytics to go anywhere in the short term. People also forget that VR makes about 30% of humans motion-sick. Including me. I can't stand Prezi for that reason too. So I'm not so sure about VR except for access to field trips really. Personal assistants could be interesting. But I'd actually put the new chromebooks and Google Classroom announced in the past week way up at the top of the list for cheapness, flexibility.

Depending on where you teach some of the trends might be already a reality (or have been for many years), others will probably never come to pass.

In our school "Online Learning" has been available since 2009. Making use of the cloud has been a recent development (apart from the occaisonal Dropbox user).
As far as 3-D printing is concerned, it has not arrived in our school yet.

As for virtual reality, I don't think it will become important for education very soon. This opinion is mainly based on technical facts. Within the next few years our school will both lack the bandwith and the hardware to support virtual reality applications.

With learning analytics we are trying some first steps, but it is a steep ascend and maybe not worth the time spent on it.

New technologies are useful for everybody, teachers and students. Choosing the right technology is very important in learning process. For now we are exporing cloud computing in TouchDevelop and computing with Lego Mindstorm. 3-D printing is used in some schools, but not yet in ours. Well, if we speak about trends in learning, probably MOOCs and personalized learning will be the principal topics. Another thing that is, and will be, very important is learning analytics and big data.
But tell which will be the emerging technologies seems a little bit more difficult. Robotics and virtual reality, for example, are nowadays emerging tools, but maybe not in a few years. What about wearables? Thinking in a general way (including the human&technology integration, like a kind of wearable), can they be the next technological revolution?

I think that the most useful digital strategy in my school is BYOD.
It truly enables student and teachers to extend the learning day, enable increased access to content and collaboration tools, personalize learning.
As my school cannot afford to purchase a device per student , allowing students to bring their own devices in the school and use them for instructional purposes would help in introducing more technology in the classroom.
As BYOD increases in the working world, if students use their personal devices in school, it prepares them for their future careers in college or in their working activities.
BYOD demonstrates to students that their personal devices, they usually use for games, texting, selfies, etc. , can also be used as an instructional and useful tool for productivity in the classrooms.
