The Covid-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income through fundraising events.

The Virgin Money London Marathon alone, which should have taken place on Sunday 26 April, is the world’s biggest one-day fundraising event, which raised more than £66.4 million for thousands of charities in 2019.

Many of these charities have had to reduce or stop services at a time when vulnerable members of society need them most; thousands of staff have been placed on furlough and many charities will not survive the next few months.

Anyone can take on the challenge…

All you need to do is dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 that suits your skills and complete it on or after Sunday 26 April – when the 40th London Marathon would have taken place.

This could be something as simple as pledging to run or ride 2.6 miles as your daily exercise, holding the plank for 2.6 minutes, to gardening for 26 minutes.

Our school uniform provider The Sports Shop will be open from 15th June from 10.00am-1.00pm Monday to Saturday.

Social distancing measures will be in place and we will limit the amount of people allowed in the shop.

In order to manage the social distancing of uniform customers we have decided to only allow one family at a time in the uniform department. With 30 minute time slots being booked via our Facebook page. Parents MUST book a slot in advance of coming into the shop.

This booking system is now up and running on the @toymasteriow Facebook Page

All uniform that is tried on but not bought will be thoroughly steam cleaned before being put back on the racks.

Parents can also buy online at www.thesportshop.co. If your order is over £20 we will delivery it for free to anywhere on the island. You just need to select ‘click & collect’ on check out. Orders under £20 will incur a £4 delivery charge.

NHS Test and Trace plays an important part in the wider strategy to save lives and to protect the healthcare system as we start to move out of lockdown. The more rapidly we can identify people who may have been at risk of infection and, if necessary, ask them to self-isolate, the more effectively we can reduce the spread of the virus. For support with an eating disorder, children and young people can ring Beat’s Youthline on 0808 801 0711.

The Think Ninja (freely available and adapted for COVID-19) app educates 10-18 year olds about mental health, emotional wellbeing and provide skills young people can use to build resilience and stay well.

Rise Above (adapted for COVID-19) website aims to build resilience and support good mental health in young people aged 10 to 16.

The SEND Gateway is a good source of information for professionals, containing resources on responding appropriately to children and young people with SEND with emotional wellbeing needs.

As advertised in April this year, due to a new home to school bus contract starting in September 2020, the number of school bus services available will be significantly reduced. This will affect the number of privilege seats that can be offered.

We are unable to confirm which services will be running at this stage but intend to have this information towards the end of July 2020.

We aim to open the first privilege seat application window towards the end of July 2020 for mainstream students, only, therefore, Post‐16 students will not be able to apply. There may be an opportunity for Post‐16 students to apply later but only after the start of the academic year. We are unable to confirm an application date at this stage, therefore, sixth
form students are expected to make their own transport arrangements.
