The good samaritan - Luke 10: 30-37
30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii[a] and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

Caroline practised many Catholic traditions and spoke many prayers. She followed the 10 commandments but was greatly inspired by the commandment of " love thy neighbour". She never treated people as if they were different or less of a person. This commandment is shown in the parable of the good samaritan, as it tells people to treat people equally and that is what Caroline did when she stood up for the dignity of women.

Caroline aimed to make many improvements to how women were treated. She voiced many of her concerns to the public until she was heard and changes were made. She tried to improve the inequalities between men and women. In 1891 Pope Leo XIII released an encyclical Rerum Novarum. This encyclical focused on capital and labour and had 7 principles. One of the principles was human dignity. The encyclical was released 14 years after Caroline died and had many of the values that Caroline followed. Caroline devoted her life to helping those in need and with her persistence and devotion to helping those less fortunate and striving for equality many people believe that she influenced some of the principles in the encyclical.

Caroline lived out Catholic traditions everyday, and committed her life to live like Jesus. She was an advocate for the rights of women and devoted her time to speaking up for those who wouldn't. She communicated the importance of social justice and dignity within the community. Caroline gained respect over the years while she was voicing the issues within society. She would write letters to the government to try and have changes made within the community. She showed many priestly, prophetic and kingly actions over the course of her life to help those in need.

The Caroline Chisholm Society is a organisation based in the 21st century. This organisation helps mothers and their young children. Their organisation was inspired by the story of Flora and how Caroline helped her. This organisation has had many similar situations. They provide support for all women and their families. They can help lift some of the financial stress many new parents face by providing maternal goods. They also help support the mothers mentally and socially if they are feeling stressed. This organisation follows many of the same values as Caroline such as respect, compassion and justice.
