In this blog we see the opinion of one believing Michael Jackson stole the works of Bob Fosse. He states works released by Fosse, and works released later by Michael Jackson stating that the movement Michael does is the exact same as a specific work Fosse had created. However this movement was trademark moves of Fosse's such as turned in knees, sideways shuffling, rolled shoulders and jazz hands.

In my opinion I do not believe Michael Jackson stole material from Fosse but looked up to him as inspiration. Michael recognised the talent of Bob Fosse and was not afraid to reinvent it as his own.

He focuses on musicality and the movement links to the rhythm of the song. His work was a risk and this is seen in this number. The dancers are stood on chairs in an attitude position showing s that Fosse was not afraid to think out the box and be daring with his choreography.

I posit the theory that although Jazz dance has been influenced and evolved over the years, it is constantly changing with culture and what is selling at a specific time. Although its backgrounds stemmed from slavery, many famous practitioners have also based their own techniques on culture and commerciality of an era. Today in the 21st century, Jazz is beginning to be combined into commercial and can be recognized in works from choreographers such as Brian Freidman. Although jazz is its own codified technique t is enthusing with what is new in today and can be recognised in other genres of dance. For example, an element of hip hop known as jazz funk
