This means understanding the mentor's work well, at least to a degree that makes sense with the student's prior experience. Being able to comfortably reference the mentor's work and elaborate your thoughts on it is a good step to conveying this interest and enthusiasm to your mentor.</div>]]></description>

They do not want someone who would slack off on the experiments and not take the research seriously. You can convey this quality by talking about why you became intrigued by the subject and demonstrating how much you know about it already. You could also take extra initiatives on various tasks when communicating with your mentor.</div>]]></description>

I can convey these traits by giving examples of what I have done in the past and being enthusiastic about the research topic. I also need to make sure I ask questions if I am confused so that I fully understand and communicate that I am paying attention. There's very little fun in working with someone who's not as enthusiastic about what you're working on. Part of this includes showing a willingness to learn and collaborate. And is generally a good, quality human being<br>I can convey this by learning about their topic (past even work published by the mentor) and having background knowledge that extends past what you're required to know. Anecdotes are also useful in demonstrating positive characteristics without simply listing positive attributes. </div>]]></description>
