The discussion that I enjoyed learning about was about blocks. I liked this one because I never fully knew how much blocks could contribute to the children's learning. With what I have learned in this discussion I now am sure I can use it in the future.

Through my time as a substitute teacher I have learned how to connect with children in a short time. I remember when I first started this job I was concerned with how I would be able to connect with these children even though I wasn't there for a long time. I also wasn't use to the issues that were happening there and felt that I was out of my depth. At the end of my time there I was sad to be leaving and am sad that I may not be able to see them again. I wish that the children that I met and taught are able to have a great rest of their year, and that I might have gave them good memories, had fun, and have learned something.

From this experience I have taken with me the patience, understanding, and love I experienced for the past several months. This internship challenged me in new ways that I haven't been before. I have not delt with so many children this age before. I believe from this experience I have seen the joy that every kid can bring, no matter their circumstances. I know in my future I will need to be patient with children. At some points some of my co-workers have lost some of the patience and I have seen how children react to that. I have been able to see what works best when working with children and have come to the conclusion that I always figured to be true: children are more inclined to listen to someone that is motivating them then someone yelling. On my last day a child that hadn't been to the preschool came. She was all over the place and didn't listen to directions the whole time. The instance that I am specifically thinking of is when we were bringing the kids inside and had to go up a flight of stairs in order to get to our classroom. The girl was standing at the bottom picking at it and one of the assistants started to get frustrated and were yelling at her to get up the stairs. I came up to her and instead of talking about her stopping the line, I was very excited and talked about us going up the stairs together. What stood out to me was the huge smile that took over her face and the excitement that came over her. I believe that I will remember that for a lifetime.

My accomplishment

My accomplishment for this semester is furnishing it. It might not seem like a big deal to some, but it was very difficult to get out of bed this semester. This wasn't only for my internship, but for other classes and work. The burnt out that I have experienced this semester was like no other. I am proud of myself for making it to (most) of my classes on time and finishing my internship. I overloaded myself this semester with five classes and two classes that required fieldwork. I also had many family and friend struggles at the beginning of the semester. I believe that my work has helped me. I remember some of my worst day becoming better just by having a conversation with a child ether from my internship or work. One of the reasons I love working with children is the light and life they bring to the people around them. So yes I am proud for finishing this semester, but I know this class and internship played a part in making me feel crazy, and also happy.
