I was diagnosed at 3 years old with BORS Syndrome. The side effects include kidney abnormality, holes on the top of the ears and hearing loss. I am so prideful in being deaf as it has taught me to be responsible and advocate for my health. I have gained so much confidence in having this disability. I have gone to summer camps and met other deaf individuals. I make friends so much easier with them then with hearing peers. In April, I will be getting Cochlear Implant surgery on my left ear.
