During the school closure and online learning, I loved giving my students immediate feedback . It was important to me that I did, due to the lack of personal feedback we didn't have in the classroom, (face to face). I would analyze what they wrote, or listen to their recording, then always write something positive that they could read. Then I would remind them of something that they could remember to work on. On the future submissions, I'm not sure if their parents started to do it for them, with them or not at all, but the assignments were actually submitted correctly in 80% I also continually use the data from our Acadiance, (Dibels) testing. progress monitoring and Pearson online assessments to drive instruction with individual, small, or whole group teaching.

We should have the ability to give our teachers feedback as they learn and implement new things. Then use implementation data and teacher input/feedback to identify our next steps. Taking the time to reflect throughout the implementation process can provide teachers support and confidence as they move through the process of doing new things.

Teachers must be daily analysts! It is impossible to do our jobs without analyzing our own teaching, student learning, assessments, and outcomes to drive our instruction. I am especially excited to learn how to use technology to differentiate. Already in First Grade there is great variance in skills and abilities. It is critical to find each child’s zone of proximal development and work within it to maximize learning. Also, challenging and engaging students helps to minimize behavior issues. If we are able to return to school, I hope to weave technology into my weekly lessons for this purpose. If we end up having to go online again, I look forward to using new programs that are easy for First Graders to follow. More importantly, I need to find out which programs are most efficient and successful in student learning. Utilizing best practices in the use of technology will be critical if we have to start the year online.

Honestly, I love the new quizzes option on Canvas the way that we can provide feedback if a student answers a question incorrectly. It is as though we can almost re-test them on the question, but getting them to think again about the answer they chose and how they can correct it. This would be great for retakes. These are great ways to analyze student knowledge and understanding and gather the data we need to determine whether or not we need to re-teach the concept.

Kaitlyn Fackrell
Using Canvas as a tool for giving students timely feedback on their work is awesome! I like using the audio/video feedback tool when grading essays. I can talk to students about their writing, and provide much more thorough and constructive feedback than if I had to type out my feedback. It allows me to grade essays much quicker and get students feedback in a more timely manner.

In my Film Studies classes, my students can create an eportfolio demonstrating all of the hard work that they have mastered and completed throughout our units.

Julie Morano
It is so important to use data to inform instruction but before doing that you must have ways to collect data that allows for student diversity to show mastery fo content. Using both formative and summative assessments and allowing student choice to demonstrate mastery of content are ways to do this. Giving students feedback quickly can give the student what the support they need to learn and grow in the moment. Students are then more motivated to want success.

Alizabeth Shirts 2nd grade teacher - This standard I feel can often be the most important in regard to digital learning in the classroom. Technology offers a wonderful asset of being quick and easy for our students to use. We are able to give extremely timely feedback when using majority of technology platforms to assess students. We can get instant answers to what a child knows and is still needing extra help with. I love this aspect of assessments using technology!

Suzanne DuVal-Theatre Teacher-Jordan High School
During 4th quarter as I was learning Canvas I liked the way I could have students submit their progress using text boxes to read material or watch videos and respond through short answer, submit research in progress, record videos of projects in progress and I could quickly grade them and respond to keep them on track for their larger projects. I also used Google Meet to meet with students and have them show me projects in process, ask questions and get feedback. We were also able to use Google Meet and record final presentations for me to watch and respond to live and other students to watch and respond later if they were unable to attend in person. We found a lot of ways to keep the feedback flowing and keep students working towards successful outcomes.
