I think peer pressure can be positive or negative depending on the influence that is being pushed onto the individual, and whether it is positive or negative. For example, I coach gymnastics to children, and one wild child can influence the rest of the group into poor listening and crazy behavior, but on the other hand, one child can be a calming influence and cause the rest of the group to improve their behavior. I think individuals conform to peer pressure because we are naturally wired to be social creatures, and social creatures need to be accepted by our peers.

Peer pressure can be either positive or negative. It depends on the type of behavior that they succumb to. Positive behaviors can include joining a club or taking up a new after school activity, while a negative behavior can include drugs or alcohol. Individuals conform to peer pressure because we want to be accepted by others. Being rejected by others can mean isolation and, I'm sure, all humans need some form of human interaction. Giving into peer pressure can help raise someone's popularity and I think that in high school this can be important because high schools usually have this recognized, set social hierarchy.

I think peer pressure in teenagers, although may be positive in some circumstances is generally negative. I believe this because in almost every case you hear about somebody being peer pressured it is about something negative. Even when you research "peer pressure" the results are typically in relation to negative experiences such as being peer pressured into risk taking activities, drugs, alcohol, etc. Teenagers give in to peer pressure in an attempt to fit in, with the fear of being rejected.

I believe that peer pressure is a negative thing in most cases. The reason being that teens constantly give in to peer pressure to do dangerous or harmful actions. Peer pressure does not allow a person to always think freely and it makes a decision harder when you have people that want you to do something or make a decision based on their opinion. The reason that I think people conform to peer pressure is we try to gain acceptance from people and think that by doing what they want we make ourselves look better.

I believe that peer pressure is a positive thing. Obviously, there are exceptions but even when the peer pressure is negative, it's up to the individual to make the decisions. Peer pressure pushes us to step out of our comfort zone and do things that we would never do on our own time. It helps us experience life, for our fear of social rejection is stronger than our fear of completing whatever task we are being pressured to do. Peer pressure is a natural part of life, and it teaches us which ideas to reject, and which ideas to go through with. Through experience- experiences that we wouldn't otherwise have acquired- we learn. Peer pressure is a necessary part of life for both our communal and individual growth.

I believe peer pressure can either be both good or bad depending on how you use it. For example peer pressuring someone to do something they are not comfortable with just so you can get a sense of satisfaction out of it can be using peer pressure in a negative way but you can also use it in a positive way, you can pressure someone not to drink or do regretful actions due to them being intoxicated or pressure someone into excersising or just pressuring someone to be nice to others and help other people out. People are always wanting to fit in and be up to date with the next 'big thing' happening so they usually give into peer pressure just to be like others or they do not know how to say no or want a subject to be dropped right away so they just go with it so that they dont need to deal with it later on. There are many reasons for peer pressure whether it be good or bad.

I believe that peer pressure is positive and negative. Although negative peer pressure is more common amongst adolescence there’s always two sides of the same coin, positive peer pressure can be changes resulting in healthy habits, ideas and lifestyle choices for the better. An example would be watching a peer studying and putting all their effort into school making/ influencing you to do the same resulting in a better habit. Negative peer pressure is the most common and can greatly shape your identity and possibly your lifestyle just by surrendering to a view or situation that you don't particularly want to do or be involved in. I think individuals conform to peer pressure to adapt an identity and to fit in more with a certain group of people even if they may not like the situation they are putting themselves into they’ll do it anyways to feel accepted.

It depends on what your peers are trying to pressure you into on whether it is good or bad, healthy or not. If you peers start doing drugs and would like to join them and are trying to pressure you into it, that is not a good influence. If they are trying to get you to go to the gym every week with them, that is healthy and good for you. I believe most peer pressure is not harmful or beneficial. An example of this would be dressing a certain way or doing your hair a certain way. I believe lots of people conform to peer pressure because they want to fit in with their friends and what they see as ‘normal’ for their kind of lifestyle.

Peer pressure can be negative or positive depending on the situation maybe someone is really good at something but too scared to share it with the world and everyone pressures them into doing it, this can lead to something really good for that person. If someone is pressured into something bad like smoking, drinking, or doing drugs it could lead to something really bad like addiction or embarrassment to the person pressured into doing it. More often than not peer pressure is usually to do something negative and happens most in teen years. Most teens are trying to find themselves and end up in the wrong crowd of friends and get pressured into doing something they normally wouldn’t do.
Raquelle S

I believe that peer pressure can have both positive and negative effects on teens. It definitely depends on the situation although giving into peer pressure in any situation (good or bad) teaches the teen an important lesson. Of course, being experimental teenagers can often result in dangerous or unsafe situations which is obviously a negative effect of peer pressure. A positive effect may result as a teen grasping a better understanding of oneself after learning that the activity or action they were pressured into just wasn't for them. Overall, peer pressure definitely teaches us more about our own likes and dislikes.

It always prohibits an individual to form their own decisions. No matter if it is something negative like doing drugs, or something positive like doing extracurricular activities at school, it always restricts the individual from forming their own decisions and opinions first which is especially important as a teen. Although, peer pressure will always generally result in something positive no matter if it is good or bad because it will teach you a lesson that will help guide you in life. I think that individuals conform to peer pressure to feel accepted and to 'fit in' with everyone in their social group without feeling left out.

When an individual makes the right choice under peer pressure, it could result a positive effect to the person. For instance, a student who is motivated to get good grades because his friends are getting good grades. This action that can attribute positive peer pressure. Peer pressure can have negative impact when it creates a bad outcome not only to yourself but also that surrounds you. For example, one of your friend forces you to smoke and drink, and you refuse. However, your group of friends threatens you that they will not going to be your friends anymore. This situation does not only affect you, bust also your healthy lifestyle. Peer pressure has become a big part of our teenager’s lives. A lot of people feel pressured to do better in school when they see their peers are too, which can be both negative and positive because people feel bad about themselves if they don't do well and everyone else is, but it also does make kids do better as they are more focused. I think people conform to peer pressure, because when you are doing something that everyone else is also doing, you feel part of a group and have a stronger sense of belonging.

Peer pressure can be good if your peers are pushing you to strive in your work or to do things that are in your best interest. Once people start pressuring you to participate in things that are unsafe, out of your comfort zone, or just plain stupid , is when it becomes an issue. I believe people give in to peer pressure simply based on the fact that everybody wants to fit in. If you look up to everyone in the room and all of them are participating in something the odds are you will want to participate too.

I think peer pressure can affect people differently depending on if it is a positive or a negative impact they are forcing upon the person. From my experience peer pressure is a negative thing because being able to make your own decisions and do what you are comfortable with is most likely what is best for you. Peer pressure with things like drugs, drinking, driving etc is very common at this age and that can bring harm and feelings of guilt to the person. Influencing a person to tryout for a team or to apply for a school etc is a positive thing, for some people they just may have needed a little push to figure out what they wanted to do. I think peer pressure overall should we avoided as it causes more harm than good, giving ideas or boosting someones confidence is a better idea than forcing someone to do something they are not comfortable with

I strongly believe that different kinds of peers in a person's life can put different levels of pressure. Peer pressure is bound to affect us at some point in life, which can be positive or negative depending on who we surround ourselves with. The distinction between positive and negative peer pressure lies in a thoughtful analysis of the views of different situations. Positive influence is when I see my peers performing a noble act and kindness to others, which then gives a higher chance of me adopting their particular habit and eventually make changes to myself and become a better human being. I know that exposure to positive pressure can provide an excellent opportunity to analyze the likes and viewpoints of different people, which can then lead me to bring about constructive change in my life and the right choices for myself. However, I think that peer pressure can be detrimental, for example, if we are blindly following peers and not holding an opinion of our own might leave a negative impact on our life. For instance, our peer group would want to compel us to do something (drugs, smoking etc.), which is against our own will. As a result, when we make a wrong decision by succumbing to peer pressure, we may land ourselves in deep sorrow and feel remorseful about the whole situation. We then lose our own identity and lifestyle by surrendering to peer pressure and adopting their way of living.

People may feel pressure to conform, so they fit in or are accepted, or so they don't feel awkward or uncomfortable. When people are unsure of what to do in a social situation, they naturally look to others for cues about what is and isn't acceptable.

Peer pressure occurs in mostly negative things such as drinking, doing drugs, and partying. If your gut is telling you not do something, you should most likely go off of that. If you have to be pressured into doing something then the original thought of it is not good to you therefore you should not engage in the activity.

Because of this teens could get into doing something they don’t necessarily want to do just so they will be accepted. In some ways it could be positive if they are in trouble and need assistance and some peer pressure to put them on the right track. It depends on who the individual is surrounded by and what environment they are in.

If it is something bad for you, like doing drugs, it would be negative. You could be pressured into doing something that is actually beneficial for you. For example, I personally can be a very lazy person sometimes, but my friends who are my peers often pressure me to exercise, or do my homework, or whatever is is I need to do, trying to keep me motivated. Peer pressure is negative in the way that it can sometimes lead teens to do unsafe or harmful things. It can be hard for teens to resist peer pressure, because they are trying so hard to fit in and be socially accepted by their peers.

Peer pressure is not just good or bad, experiences with peer pressure vary from person to person. A lot of teens have felt pressured to drink or do drugs, which is obviously a bad thing. Feeling like you have to break rules of be destructive to yourself or to others to be 'cool' is something a lot of people experience. But sometimes peer pressure can be good. For example being pressured to join a club or sport if you at first didn't want to could end up in actual enjoyment. Or, being pressured to take a more challenging class that all your friends are in could open doors to future opportunities. I do think that it more often does more harm than good. Bad peer pressure seems a lot more commonplace.

I think that peer pressure has many different effects on individuals. It has the potential to be both positive or negative. When used for positive situations I think it helps teens prosper. They can become better individuals. For example, when teens use study groups full of their peers to study for a test they all work together and learn new things. They can expand their brains and bounce new ideas off each other creating better learners. In the negative ways teens that get into groups of peers who spend most of their time avoiding class or doing unethical things, they can have a poor influence on someone who is trying to prosper. I think that peer pressure changes for each person depending on who they are and how much they let it affect them as well as who their peers are and their goals. I think teens conform to peer pressure because they don’t want to be outlawed. Many adolescents don’t like to be alone and so to fill that void they make friends with a peer group and every peer group has some type of peer pressure whether it is positive or negative.

Peer pressure can be both positive and negative for teens as it depends entirely on the situation. Peer pressure is almost always portrayed in a negative ideology but it is not necessarily like that. Positive peer pressure is when teens encourage others to try different activities like clubs or sports in school. Positive peer pressure can even be taken farther than school activities. For example, if a teen sees their friends doing a noble deed then they can adopt that habit. Keeping all the positive things in mind, we should also consider the other side of the coin. There are just as many negative impacts of peer pressure, this is when a peer group compels you to do something you are not comfortable with. When a large group of people make activities like drinking and smoking look cool, teens will fall into that rabbit hole. Or when a peer’s actions are unacceptable like stealing then the teen may pick up these habits as well. I think the biggest reason why teens conform to peer pressure is because they may want to maintain or achieve a status among their peers. They most likely want to be seen as popular. For example, if teenager sees a group of people drinking at a party they may feel that they have to participate in those activities to have a good time. When peers glorify certain activities, negative or positive, a teen would participate in them to be accepted by their peers.

I think that whether peer pressure ends up being beneficial or hurtful to an individual is completely dependent on that individual's surroundings, and who they choose to look up to. For example, a student could find a new group of friends who take pride in how well they perform in school, if the student continues to stay close to these people, they would most likely begin to try to achieve more in school as well, pick up some new hobbies from them, or maybe join a new club at their school with them. Though if that same student chose to become close with some people who did bad things, like drugs, alcohol, breaking laws, they might begin to pick up some of these habits as well, leading them into a downward spiral.

In my experience, the phrase ‘peer pressure’ is usually used in a negative or even extreme context– referring to teens jumping off bridges because their friends dare them to, or young people engaging in drugs or alcohol just because their friends are. So my immediate reaction to ‘peer pressure’ is a negative, with the term conjuring up nightmare scenarios of people getting ‘peer pressured’ into unadvisable acts. While it’s definitely possible for peers to exert pressure for a positive goal, I think that the general behavior of ‘doing something because other people do it’ is a negative one (although quite universal!). Peer pressures implies a lack of independent thinking and decision making that I can only view as negative, although it’s certainly possible for individuals to be peer pressured into something beneficial like working harder at school. I think individuals conform to peer pressure because of the inherent human need for approval and acceptance from those around us. We want to be admired, to be part of a collective group. This craving for belonging often seems accentuated in teens. Unfortunately, we often make risky decisions just to gain that approbation, and ignore our own better judgment in the hope of impressing others.

It is unfair to assume that peer pressure only has negative results when the opposite is often true. For example, while peer pressure can lead to involvement in bullying or partaking in dangerous substances, it can also be good, influencing one to step out of their comfort zone by joining the student council or participating in some sort of competition. I believe the reason that the reason peer pressure is more well known for its dark side is because it’s easier to see and overshadows the good. People may be influenced by peer pressure for many reasons. One of the more prevalent ones is the need to belong and the security that comes with it. Of course, there are many different potential reasons that all vary depending on the situation and form of peer pressure. For example, someone might join in bullying because they don’t want to become the “other” who their peers are tormenting. In this situation, they are afraid of becoming the victim and don’t want to appear as a “buzzkill” or something equally likely to make their peers dislike them.

I think peer pressure is both. It really depends on the situation. Peer pressure can also vary around who you hang out with. An example of negative peer pressure would be if you always hangout with someone who skips school they would probably peer pressure you into skipping school as well, which would lead you to get into the habit of skipping school which would eventually effect your grades. When it affects your grades it will start to effect your mental health when you realize that you are falling behind in school which will cause you to stress out. An example of good peer pressure is if your friend volunteers somewhere and convinces you to do it with them it will benefit you in the sense of you're helping people which will make you feel rewarded and will also be something that looks good on resumes and college applications which will help you further your future as a whole. I think people conform to peer pressure to fit-in for most cases.

I think peer pressure can definitely be both good and bad, It really depends on the situation it's taking place in. If one is being pressured by "friends" to go out of their way to judge and make fun of someone that's a negative sense of peer pressure, but if a friend was telling you to go apply for a job you want and constantly telling you to do so or constantly telling you to go try out a activity with them that could benefit you, it's positive. There's many things in life that we have done because our peers have pressured us into doing so and we probably don't realize that those may be some of our best memories.

I believe that peer pressure can be both a good thing and a bad thing. It is very subjective to the situations, and from their we are able to tell whether or not it would be beneficial for the individual. Those who feed into negative peer pressure are often trying to fit in, and find their own place in society. It is most often that we see peer pressure used against those who are struggling, as trying to help them cope. Good peer pressure is very different, as it is more like just a gentle push to bring someone towards new things. This will encourage people, and give them adrenaline. Although I do not believe that peer pressure is bad, I believe that even if done with good intentions, there are other ways to go about things.

Like it all depends on the environment you're in but myself, have been in more situations where there was negative peer pressure compared to positive. It's honestly easier to comply rather than saying no to your peers when they try to influence you into something. I think it's more negative since teens are always expanding their horizons and experimenting with new things. Some people may try to get someone to try something new and it doesn't always have to be a bad thing. But majority of the time, teens just want to fit in and not be chastised for saying no and possibly be made fun of for saying no to something they're uncomfortable with.

I think that it really depends on what kind of experiences someone has had with peer pressure and that it is something you can really generalise as “good or bad”. If it is something that they are being pushed to do that has their best interest at heart and can only benefit them then I would consider that peer pressure situation good. If the situation they are being pushed to do will have a negative impact on them and has a chance of them getting hurt then I would consider that peer pressure situation bad. I think individuals conform to peer pressure because they want that sense of belonging, to say “yea I did that” and want to avoid having the title “boring” or “lame” around their friends. No one wants to feel like a social outcast.

I believe that peer pressuring someone can have a negative or positive effect on a person depending on the situation. The negative aspects of peer pressuring someone is either making someone do something that they really don't want to do, or making them do something that will cause harm to them. The person might have already gone through peer pressuring with something and did not have a good experience from it. Example would be peer pressuring someone to do drugs. Firstly they might have already been peer pressured before to take them and didn't have a positive experience with it and it will also put the person in a harmful environment. Peer pressuring can also be bad because you also might be threatened to do something and if you don't do it you'll be in worse trouble and could be in a dangerous situation. Although there is negative aspects of peer pressuring , there can also be positive parts. Say someone wants to try something new, you might want to pressure them into doing it but that doesn't mean making them do it or forcing them to do it. Peer pressuring could also be good if it's not leading the person into a dangerous situation. Theres a difference between peer pressuring someone by making them do it to just suggesting for them to do it and giving your own opinion of the situation if you've been in it yourself. It all depends on safety of the person.

I think peer pressure will have both positive and negative impacts on teenagers. While providing peer pressure in any situation (good or bad) teaches the teen a valuable lesson, it certainly depends on the situation. Being experimental teens, of course, will also lead to risky or unhealthy conditions, which is clearly a detrimental consequence of social pressure. As a child, after learning that the behaviour or action they were forced into was simply not for them a constructive effect will result in a deeper view of themselves. Overall, we certainly understand more of our own interests and dislikes from peer pressure.

For some it may be positive, for example, someone being pressured by their friends to get better grades or the same as them, or even pressured to leave a situation that could end up badly for that person/ group. For others, which is definitely most cases, is harmful to the individual. Majority of times, peer pressure can put a youth into a situation they may not want to be in which could lead to very harmful circumstances in the future. Many times, people give into peer pressure as a way to either "look cool" or be accepted by their peers or to please a boyfriend or girlfriend in a relationship. A lot of times, negative peer pressure occurs at a party or gathering as well, and involving substances such as drugs or alcohol.

In my experience the words peer pressure is usually a negative term. There is situations when it can be positive and even beneficial. I would first day that when hearing the words peer pressure your peers are trying to make you do something that you do not want to do or something you have never done before. In this sense it can be negative and hurt people. The positive situations your friends are trying to help you step out of your comfort zone and experience new things. An example is cliff jumping. If you and your friends are all at the top and they have all jumped in showing that its safe but your still to afraid to jump.A Little bit of healthy peer pressure can make you take that leap and experience what its like to experience that free fall. In the end i think the effects of peer pressure are based on your friends interests and if it has a positive or negative outcome for the person the are peer pressuring.

In my perspective, peer pressure is negative, and if an individual pressures someone in a positive way, it is called a good influence. I also feel that peer pressure now has a bad reputation, because kids/teenagers are so easily influenced by their peers to do bad things. People conform to peer pressure, because they might be scared of their peers judgement. For example, if a teenagers friends are all drinking and telling the teenager to drink, the teenager will probably join their friends, so that they would not be judged and be 'left out'.

If used the wrong way it can be used to make someone feel forced into doing or trying something they aren't ready for. I also think age plays a factor in this, i think younger kids don't encourage their peers in a healthy way as they are more immature and competitive, i noticed as i got older i could see more positive pressure being put on me by my peers, such as all of us pushing each other to study and do our best on a test or try something new and have the more advanced persons support in that new thing. Overall i think it should be used as something positive but it isn't always used like that.

As mentioned in the lesson, peer pressure is capable of being either positive or negative. It's also suggested that being accepted by a peer group can be quite beneficial for someone in their adolescent stages. Peer pressure consistently varies in form, it could be joining the same school club as friends, or chiming in to put down another person. It's obvious that putting down another person is bad, and the example is partially reliant on a lack of moral development, but to the individual this could serve the benefit of keeping with the rest of the peer group. This, on the pressured individual's level, is positive for the time being, but in the long term definitely has its number of cons, as it could contribute to a poor ethical structure in the future. Looking at the example of joining the club, the individual might not be doing it to promote the goals of the club, being focused on personal social status, but in the long run, the work that is accomplished with the club could lead in helping build an identity. I think caving into peer pressure is in order to achieve a level of social acceptance and recognition from peers, but I don't think having a decision influenced by peers is the same as having a decision determined by those of peers are the exactly the same.

Peer pressure can be both a good thing and a bad thing. It can be a good thing when It means that your friends are pressuring/encouraging you to step outside of your comfort zone or to join a sports team. anything peer pressure that will benefit you in some way is good for you. on another note, if your peers are reassuring you do things that are bad for you i.e. smoking or drinking, then peer pressure can be bad.

I think the effects of peer pressure vary from person to person but mostly they are positive. A teen may try harder in school or try out for a sports team, just because their friends are doing it. I do also believe that teens and people in general are overall good and will do the right thing. Airgo there is negative peer pressure that exists, but I believe that the good outweighs the bad.

I think that individuals conform to peer pressure because peers have arguably the most influence over a teen. Teens make decisions on what they think will gain them approval from their peers. Teens are still on a search for identity and being socially expected is part of that process. Therefore when it comes to peer pressure, teens are likely to submit.

I believe that peer pressure is typically a good thing. We're often pressured by the people around us to try new things and push ourselves and whether we like or dislike the thing we've tried, we've then made a discovery about ourselves. I read a post from another student that wrote that we're compelled by peer pressure to fit in with our peers but I also believe it can be used as a tool to find our "self" if we're able to use our discoveries about what we like and dislike to convey individuality.

It can be positive when stepping out of your comfort zone in a safe way, where as drugs, alcohol, and many other things are used in a negative way. I also think in high school is where negative peer pressure happens the most. Bad friend groups influencing you to do something you don`t want to such as smoking weed, drinking alcohol, sneaking out, etc.

I think peer pressure is both negative and positive. It is a deep rooted survival tactic we have developed in order to stay alive, if we are similar to our group, we will not be kicked out of the group. If our current group starts changing, we attempt to adapt to their new choices. I think that peer pressure can lead to unhappiness and a lack of identity. If you are constantly blending in with the crowd, you may feel unnoticed or not as special as others. Peer pressure is negative because of the reasons I have stated above. However, peer pressure can be extremely positive and helpful to somebodies life. If you are someone who has a very strict comfort zone, having peer pressure to step out of the box and live life a little. Respecting boundaries but pushing someone to be their best self. If you are constantly skipping school, and your friend group is very studious, a+ students, it may push you to become more successful

The reason people conform to peer pressure is because they don't want to look lame in front of the "popular" kids so they do what they are told to do and later on regret what they have done and have to live with that.

In highschool you have to pick the right people for you to be with, if you hang around with people who do risky things or seem to pressure others or their friends clearly they are not someone you would want to be around. Peer pressure can be good in some cases though to get your friends to get outside of there comfort zone in a good way, like traveling or just being more independent. if your friends and you only want whats best for each they wont pressure you in a bad way.

I think peer pressure can be seen in both positive and negative ways. Many teens want to be similar and fit in with their friend group. This can be beneficial. For example, If your friends are joining a sports team or club, they may encourage you to join it as-well. This is a good form of peer pressure. Your friends are encouraging you to do something active and fun for all of you. It is a way to develop new skills and try something new. On the other hand, if your friends are trying drugs or vandalism, it can be very challenging to say no. Many teens just want to feel accepted and wanted by their peers which can lead them in the wrong direction. This is an example of bad peer pressure. Your friends are encouraging you to do something that could harm yourself and others. Overall, depicting weather peer pressure is positive or negative really depends on the situation. In both scenarios, it can help you develop new skills or the will power to just say no and do what is best for yourself.

peer pressure is in most cases a good influence it allows someone to understand thoughts from their peers and try new things that in most case would be safe for them,Now negative peer pressure is when someone is trying to make you do something you don't want to do such as drugs or drinking and that can lead to other problems like feelings of belonging forcing you to feel like you have to do it or if you get threatened into doing it if you wont do it.but in most cases its stuff that gets sorted all quick and with good friends and reasoning can be dealt with accordingly.

If someone's peers are trying to make them do things that are dangerous or unhealthy and they are not looking out for their "friends" well-being, then that is negative peer pressure. However, if someone's peers are trying to pressure them out of doing something dangerous or push them into doing something that will benifit them and have their friends well-being at heart, then that is positive peer pressure. I think the reason people conform to peer pressure is to have a sense of belonging and to gain the approval from their peers. People want to feel like the people around them actually enjoy their company and so they do their best to please their peers, which is why people sometimes conform to the pressure.

Peer pressure is something everyone experiences multiple times throughout life. Its effects can have negative outcomes, but personally I feel that peer pressure is an overall positive experience for humans. For example, in the case of addiction to substances, peer pressure can perpetuate these addictions, but can only be broken by the individual. Humans have the strong instinctual need to belong and be accepted by their peers. When this mentality is adopted by most or all individuals, the effects of peer pressure cannot be avoided in any case. For this reason I feel that peer pressure is an essential part of the human experience. While there are issues involving "herd mentality", peer pressure can have an overall positive effect on the life of an individual.

I believe that peer pressure can be both positive and negative for individuals. When you hear the phrase “peer pressure” your mind immediately jumps to the negative aspects of it. Of course this can be true, peer pressure can be negative, it can influence risk behaviours such as abusing drugs, but it can also be positive. Peer pressure can be an effective way of influencing teens to try new things or step out of their comfort zones, for example joining a sports team. As long as this peer pressure doesn't lead to risky behaviours, it can be very positive for individuals. Whether peer pressure is positive or negative relies heavily on the circumstances. It can be positive if it influences healthy behaviours, but negative if it influences risk behaviours. I believe that individuals conform to peer pressure because they want to be accepted, they want to feel validated by those around them. Acceptance from peers can lead individuals to feelings of positive self-worth, a feeling that is very valuable and highly sought after for many teens as they struggle with their newly changing identities.

I believe that peer pressure can be both a good thing and a bad thing, a little bit of pressure is and always will be a part of life. Peer pressure allows you to be given a choice and decide if that's the route you are going to take be it good or bad. But even if a person gives into a bad peer pressure, let's say drugs, and they end up taking it there's most likely going to be good pressure from other friends telling them 'hey, that's not a great idea' now this person may take that advice or they may not it really depends on them. So in all honesty defining if the peer pressure is positive or negative really depends on the situation

I believe peer pressure can be both a positive or negative thing. Often when hearing the words peer pressure I automatically assume it's something negative, which others may also do. However, thinking about examples of when positive peer pressure is applied it seems that those actions are more common for individuals. I think this is because individuals can influence one another greatly, without even noticing. In school it would be fairly simple to work with a friend on their schoolwork to make sure they are completing it or encourage them to join an extracurricular activity. I think individuals conform to peer pressure to follow their friends, because whatever they do it good enough for them. Others may also conform because they don't want to feel left out or have fear of missing out.

I believe that peer pressure is determined by who you surround yourself with. People that want you to benefit and succeed in life will have a positive outcome. People that want to bring you down, will have a lasting negative effect on yourself. I think people tend to have a very negative outlook on peer pressure and tend to blame it, and others for their behavior. While I absolutely believe negative peer pressure is real, I don’t believe that it should be an excuse to behaviour that was ultimately chosen by the individual. This is why I don’t believe it is predominantly positive or negative, but rather a reflection of what you surround yourself with. And what you choose to single out, one day you may realize the kid across the room being peer pressured to vandalize, and rule out that peer pressure is mainly negative, but you may not have realized the kid next to them, everyday telling them to do their work, being a positive influence on them. This isn’t or I dont think it's a real term but what I would call selective narrative, when you have made a subconscious or conscious choice to single out one possibility or option in hopes to bring a new narrative, that is ultimately missing the other factors. I see this A LOT at school, a friend tells/encourages or suggests another student to do something bad, another friend will tell them not to (a friend that might be closer in relation, or someone you’d rather had the approval from). Yet the student still makes the decision to do the bad deed, and blames it on peer pressure, As if there wasn’t a driving force trying to pull them away. And don’t get me wrong it can be hard to put away from temptations, but there has to be a certain amount of accountability on the individuals part.In my opinion people give into peer pressure for a sense of belonging, good or bad. Especially adolescence, teens are in a stage where they are choosing their life path, and most have yet to find a place within themselves that they want, so they turn to others for validation and acceptance.

I think that peer pressure is mainly a negative thing. People should be able to be themselves and find their own ways without influence from other people. Especially because peer pressure can often result in risk behaviors that a teen would normally never have done, peer pressure is a bad thing,. Even if peer pressure causes a teen to do something positive like joining a school sports team, peer pressure is the wrong reason to do something like that.

I think it all depends on what you are being peer pressured about. It isn't okay to pressure someone to do something but if you are being pressured into a positive thing like trying out for a sport or joining a club then it isn't necessarily a bad thing. If it is peer pressure to do drugs or drink alcohol or anything that makes you uncomfortable, then it is definitely negative. Mostly I think just do what you want to and if you feel uncomfortable doing something others want you to, then don't.

I believe most peer pressure has a negative impact on individuals. Majority of the time we say "no" first. That's the first answer that pops up after the question has been asked. Usually, your first answer is the answer you are comfortable with and I don't think a true friend who values your relationship will force you to do something you are not fond of. I think what compels others to peer pressure their surroundings to do something they aren't comfortable with is self neglect. I find often that when someone tries to pressure you into doing something you don't want to, they usually just want to bring you down with them. Even if they don't realize. They could be your friend, family member, boyfriend or girlfriend. Personally, I think if they respected your boundaries and had enough morals for you, they wouldn't pressure you into doing something you don't want too.

I think peer pressure can be a positive or a negative thing but in todays world I believe its a negative things. I think that because there are many teens peer pressuring them to do drugs, do stupid things just to make them feel accepted but really you don't need to do any of that. I think that individuals conform to the peer pressure because they don't want to be left out, they want to fit in and join the others around them. by conforming to the peer pressure that's giving they feel accepted almost. I do believe that there is a positive side to peer pressure such as being told to do something that will greatly impact you life or being told to meet someone new, those are examples of good peer pressure because there are good outcomes from it.
