For years teen marriage has been a big thing. When teenagers decide to get married they don't know the meaning of what they are promising when they get married. Like when Romeo and Juliet decided to get married they had no clue what the impacts of their marriage would have when they didn't even know what will happen with there relationship. Since they barely know anything about each other. Other then the fact that there parents were in a big argument.

According to Sarah Kershaw "in the 1950's the median age for you to marry someone is 19 years old. But teen marriages are three times more likely to get a divorce then they are marriages of people of the age 25 years and older. Data found that 48% of teen marriages will get a divorce in the next ten years of being married compared to the 24% of people who get married at the age of 25." The connection to Romeo and Juliet is that they were really young when they got married. But when Romeo and Juliet were doing there vows they rushed through all the vows that were spoken to them for the marriage to go on. Romeo and Juliet did not really care what the pastor was actually saying in the vows they just said yes to everything he said without listening.

Do teenagers truly understand what marriage is about? According to Sheri Stritof, "During the middle ages practices of teens being married started at the age of 14." When children started getting married at 14 it was mainly the girls because the men wanted to wait till they could pay and care for there love ones. When Romeo and Juliet got married they didn't think about weither or not they would be able to pay and care for each other. A lot of people theses days wait to get married till they know that they can pay for everything they get and support each other.

We saw that there is a lot of problems that involve teen marriage. One of the biggest problems for teen marriages is that they marry each other not knowing if they will love each other forever. So when Romeo and Juliet had gone and gotten married to each other right away after they just met they had no clue if they would still be married. But these two lovers believed that if they didn't get married they might not ever be able to be with each other. They married each other to also prove a point to there parents. They wanted to prove that not everything has to be a fight. A lot of teenagers marry to show there parents that they will be able to take care of themselves and that they can make a family and be successful. For Romeo and Juliet there love helped finish the fight that has been going on for years between there family. But sadly they had to die to be with each other forever.

Teens rushing into marriage don't fully get to know their partner. By refusing to learn more about their partner, divorce is often the result. According to Naomi Seiler,
"Median ages
of first marriage today are higher than they
were in the 1950s and 1960s, a time when
marital ages were unusually low" "In 1998,
men’s median age at first marriage was 26.7,
only six months older than it was in 1890.
Women’s numbers have increased more; their
median age at first marriage was 22 in 1890,
dipped down to 20.1 in 1956, and by 1998
reached 25" - CLASP
