Akauk Taung is located about 19 miles of downstream from Pyay. They are dozens of Buddha figures are craved into rocks overthinking the Ayeyarwady. It had many various world heritage sites, such as the ancient Pyu city and sri Ksetra and the unique Akauk Taung Buddha cliff cravings, situated on the Ayeyarwady river. It is a great place to go as mentioned with the wonderful buddha cravings carved into the wall. Some people say that these were created by the taxman who use to stand here waiting to collect money from the passing boats. It does take some time to get there from Pyay by either hiring a motorbike or taxi or boats. It takes about 2 hours. you will see picturesque rural landscapes.
