I really value time to pull small groups and intervene with struggling students, which is one of the greatest benefits of this model. When we are in writer's workshop, I set up a "Today's Meet" when I have a small group so students feel like they have access to me if needed. I also use this model as an opportunity to teach students skills they can learn through a screen cast. The screen cast allows students to view a lesson as many times as they would like.
