The residents of Western Sahara want independence however, so groups like the Polisario Front were formed by the locals to push back against Morocco claiming ownership over their land. Morocco managed to bounce their economy back by 7.4% GDP growth rate in 2021 after a great year of exporting crops. While Morocco may face unemployment and poverty issues in its population, the country still has a GDP of $7,400 in 2018 according to the CIA.
