Dear Dairy,
Today I went to the National Museum and learnt a lot of things about the culture and the cultural connections that Singapore had with countries before 1891.
The three things that was the most interesting for me was about the Broken stem cup, Gold armlet and the'Headless horse man'. All of the sources were found during the period of 14th century. The Broken stem cup and the Gold armlet were found at the Fort Canning Hill while the 'Headless horse man' was found at the Empress Place.
The Broken stem cup tells me that Singapore had exchanged ideas about traditions, clothing and many more with countries such as China as the Broken stem cup were originated from China hence it shows that Singapore had cultural connections with China
The Gold armlet shows that the people from Java wanted to spread their strong beliefs of Kali, representing time and destruction or the religion to Singapore.Since the Broken stem cup was found in Singapore, it shows that Singapore was influenced by Java's culture and had cultural connection with them.
The 'Headless horse man' was found at the Empress Place. This source tells me that Singapore had cultural connection with the Javanese as the source was from Java.
These were the three sources that interest me the most. See you tomorrow. Bye Diary!
