I think it is important to have the kids practice using desmos since they are given the tool during the EOC. They do not need it for all questions, but it could be good for students to know how to use the tool if they don't know/understand the steps on paper.

I like using Desmos as a tool for exploration. For example, students can see how changing the value of b moves the graph.

Desmos could be used as a way to check your handwritten work, as a remediation tool for retesters, and as Staar review. I could use it in class to help students get a quick visual of graphs and equations or as a station to answer EOC questions.

I teach Alg 2 and most students know how to use it but I need to know how to use it as well since I mainly use the ti-84. Linear regressions is what I would use it for.

In Algebra 1, we should use Desmos in the second semester after we have established foundational skills. I think we should specifically use it more frequently in the 4th 9 weeks.

I use Desmos with my online students (Garza’s Online Courses) as an alternative to TI-84 calculators. They use it for graphing equations and inequalities and for finding regressions to fit the data.

Desmos can be incorporated into most units in Algebra I by using it as a checking tool to verify answers. We want to encourage kids to know how to complete problems algebraically, however, in the times we live in, Desmos and digital math resources are prevalent. I believe implementing Desmos as a checker will build their computer/online calculator skills while still giving them the opportunity to practice by hand.
