Picking a college and a course is hard enough. While we have limited options, there are still a lot. But then there would be more factors to consider. Too many factors, but as they say you can never be prepared. And sometimes, chances are, you will be accepted in another school you are not aiming for and still come up more successful than ever.

I recently learned that there are websites specifically designed for browsing through US colleges and universities. This is a game-changer for me, as I’ve been conducting my research manually until now.

Through the first session I realized how there are a lot of options, although competitive, that we can try out for. I am grateful to have also been enlightened on the factors to consider in choosing the schools to apply to and ways to find a fitting school through the given websites.

Colleges in the US differ from those in the Philippines primarily in governance and classification. While the Philippines has a unified governing body overseeing colleges (CHED), the US system is decentralized, with schools accredited by private organizations. US colleges are categorized into four main types: private, public, community colleges, and specialized institutions. When applying, it’s crucial to consider several factors to ensure the best fit for your needs. Start with your degree and major to determine if the college offers programs aligned with your career goals. Evaluate the cost and availability of financial aid to manage expenses, and research the school’s selectivity to gauge your chances of admission. While rankings can be a helpful guide, be mindful of potential biases and focus on how the school meets your personal and academic priorities.

Deciding for your college applications require so many factors to consider. One overlook and it might cause you regrets/difficulty in adjustments. Therefore, college admissions and applications should be decided carefully with the help of family, friends, and the US Embassy.

This first lesson actually helped me understand the USA Tertiary System more as i was previously clueless about the subject. This helped especially more as I have already done prior research and have been left at an impasse for quite a while just thinking of ways on how to enhance the information I have already gathered. These new key points gave me an idea of what step I have to take next to further advance my research about the universitites/college i plan to apply to.

The choices are vast! But we're (aspiring) international students, so one look at that financial aid calculator and you have to re-start all over again. Personally, I'd love to go to one of the Colleges That Change Lives, but most of them only have generous aid for domestic students. Whatever the case, though, it's still worth it to try. You never know where you might end up.

During the session, I gained several details about my fellow CPP4 members, many of whom are also campus journalists like me. The discussion provided a wealth of information on key considerations when applying to U.S. schools, such as identifying programs that align with my interests, evaluating financial aid options, and understanding the unique features and management styles of various institutions. Overall, I found the session highly productive, and I’m eager to deepen my knowledge in the upcoming sessions.

The US has a vast number of universities to choose from, making the decision incredibly challenging. Today's session taught me that I need to consider various factors in the process. There's still a lot I need to research about universities in the US, but I’m hopeful it will become easier over time. In the end, all I hope for is to get into a university that will be the best fit for me and my career path.

This session has given me a better sense of direction regarding my goals, even if the path ahead remains uncertain. The fog is starting to lift, and I feel more aligned with what I want to achieve.

Meeting all the cohorts is a great and significant experience because I feel less alone in this. I wish to be well acquainted with my colleagues and perhaps even interact with them more frequently in the near future, as I would wish to meet some of them at least someday. mwhehehehe
