The garments Miyake creates have a vision of movement and he also creates movement by making the models actually dance. Although I knew I didn’t want to use feathers in my final outcome as I find feathers can come across more costume-like. So I decided that the closest fabric manipulation to use is fraying as it gives a feathery feel and look.

I want to focus on sustainability for my garment construction so fraying is the perfect option as I can use everyone in the studios scrap fabrics to reduce waste and fray and layer them. 

 This was a breakthrough as I plan to use fraying in my final piece.
