tgfgyes i recommend...

1stly

-amidst the stress of daily life: skateboarding as a recre actv is known to be therapeutic outlet n a stress reliever

cultivates a sense of freedm -> surge of dopamine and adrenaline to brighten the day

-feeling of learning smthg new-> learning new sktboarding tricks feel a sense of accomplshmnt, leeds to positive mindset-> improved mental and phys health

-consider sktbdg with friends->fosters a sense of commnunity n increased camaraderie among friends that strengthens long-lasting fs bonds.

PS: recreational actv enthu: love cycling w/ fam and peers at ecp. Thru cyc, fostering a sense of harmony and understand amongst my friends better

Thus, skaeboarding provides an outlet for self-expression and a way to relieve stress. The sense of accomplishment through trial and error contribute to improved mental well-being.

2ndly, i personally feel that

-sktbding-> develops strong moral values of persvrnce and resilience

requires repeated attempts and self-learning to master tricks

building mental toughness through falling and getting back up/tolerating PaIN-> thus developing perseverance in the face of challenges

PS: when i was younger, my elder cousins introduced me to skbding, they taught me new tricks on the sk8bd like kick turns and flips. at first, i was hesitant to continue as i felt embarrassed infront of them, but i took the time to practice despite continuous trial and error and perfected it eventually

......

i believe tat it is important to develop strong moral values such as resilience and perseverance at a young age. they can be more empathetic towards others, and make ethically sound decisions, allowing them to contribute positively to society in the future.

cons cons

however, others may argue otherwise

recreationl act (in this case sk8bding) pose a potential safety risk.

Take, for instance: over 200,000 individuals in '22 were treated in hospital emergency rooms due to skateboarding-related injuries, with a huge portion of these cases involving youths aged 15 to 24 .

These injuries not only cause immediate physical harm but may lead to long-term health complications and psychological trauma

I believe that youths should consider wearning safety gear or have an adult present at all times, reducing the risk of injury.

IN conclision, I'd recommn skateboarding to youths is a holistic experience that promotes physical health, mental well-being, and social connection through being an outlet for stress relief and allowing youths to develop moral values.

I would recommend such a recreational activity for young people.

Firstly, skateboarding can act as a stress reliever for youths, who want a temporary escape from their busy lives. Skateboarding is versatile, such that the person carrying out the activity can pick whether they want to go at a carefree, languid pace or if they want to attempt challenging tricks and turns. Regardless of what young people choose, skateboarding is an effective way of taking their minds off of their burdens as they can focus on something other than their taxing lives.

Secondly, young people can train their mind and body simultaneously. When it comes to learning cool maneuvers, strength and grit is necessary to master them, as there is no guarantee that one will be able to successfully carry it out on the first try. Young people will be able to both keep fit while persevering through obstacles, which benefits their health and ability to overcome problems in their life.

However, critics may argue that they would not recommend such a recreational activity for young people as it may be dangerous, especially for beginners. Skateboarding relies on the ability to stay balanced on the board while it is moving without using your hands. It is due to this that young people may fall and injure themselves. Despite this, i would still recommend such a recreational activity for young people. In my opinion, as long as young people ensure they wear the proper safety gear, there is no need to worry about cuts and bruises.

In conclusion, i would recommend such a recreational activity for young people as it can work as both an outlet for youths to relieve stress and for them to also improve themselves as a person.

 I would not.

Skating can be quite dangerous for beginners. Injuries such as sprains, bruises, and even broken bones may happen. Not all young people have the coordination or balance needed to skate safely. Coupled with they might not equipped with proper protective gears. Makes accidents even more likely to take place.

Not all areas have safe or suitable places to skate. In most of Singapore neighborhoods, young people can only skate on rough paraments and often near busy roads. Increasing the risk of harm.

Skating is a social activity. Skate in parks, skate rinks, or join clubs. Meet others with similar interests, make new friends, share their mental problems and pressures from real life. Maintain ones mental wellbeing. Bring social interaction from online to real life.

In conclusion, even though skating is a fun activity it can be quite dangerous and inconvenience due to the limited number of skate parks in Singapore. Therefore, I would not see skating a recommendation for young people, as there are still other more suitable activities to youths.

Firstly, I would add in various rooms for different activities to be conducted. I'd like the recreation centre to have various places for different activities, being able to cater to all needs. My vision for this recreational centre is that it is a one-stop destination for youths to hang out with their friends while they work and play. I'm sure that with a wider space, youths can engage in all their favourite activities.

Secondly, I would add graffiti and other vibrant artworks to the space to bring out some joy into the area, making it stand out and more welcoming to those who would want to escape from the mundane cycle of life. The colours added also would be enticing to youths who come here to exercise, and as motivation posters can be added around the centre to encourage visitors to complete their tasks, be it fitness or enrichment.

Lastly, I would ensure that the area has air-conditioning. Due to the temperatures of Singapore have increased drastically, causing discomfort in most enclosed or indoor spaces. I would like this recreational space to be a haven for rest and comfort, along with making new friends in their age group. This way, the recreational area can not only be used for sports and leisure, but also for education and rest.

It would be in one of the community centre rooms near an area with open spaces. Firstly, the open area allows young people to play sports such as basketball, soccer, badminton etc. This can help cultivate a healthier lifestyle for young people and provide them with the opportunity to socialise with other people of their similar age. Additionally, there could also be a corner with all the various sports materials that many young people can play with in the open space outside the room.

Secondly, the room can have an art and craft corner which supplies paper, wool, writing equipment etc. for young people to paint, draw, knit and more! This could let young people work on their creativity skills and de-stress from their day-to-day school life. Moreover, there can also be a gym corner with all the weights, treadmill, and more. This could promote a healthy lifestyle for young people, keeping them healthy and fit from a young age to prevent any future health complications.

Thirdly, there can also be a small kitchen area for those interested in baking or cooking. Young people are provided with the opportunity to cook or bake various types of foods for their friends and family. The area will also include a dining table where they can socialise with one another, improving their communication skills and also expand their social circle.

In conclusion, if I were to design a recreational area for young people, it would have an open area for physical activities, an exercise and art and craft corner, and a kitchen area for cooking or baking.

If i were to design a recreational area for people, i would design a cafe filled with various pets, entertainment spots and make it visually attractive for youngsters. In the cafe, I would include dogs, cats, rabbits, and many different animals. The reason why I want to add animals into the cafe is because I have read somewhere that animals can lower our stress hormone levels and can alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety. By adding cute pets into the cafe, I hope that youngsters will visit my cafe to seek peace and comfort. As for entertainment spots, i would like to add video game or video/movie watching spots so that young boys or girls can play different type of games. i would add games such as sports games as i see that teenage boys are more interested in those type of games. as for girls, i would add a big tv for them to sit back and watch movies. of course, boys and girls can alternate between games and movies! lastly, as for visual appearance, i will make the cafe aesthetically pleasing to attract youngsters. as social media is everywhere, youngsters would want to take photos. hence i think that an aesthetically pleasing cafe would attract young people.

Yes, I would recommend skating to young people.

Firstly, it allows youths to exercise and be healthy. This is because skating requires a lot of energy to engage different muscles and move around. Young people will be able to train their body as well as their endurance.

Secondly, it stimulates youths' brain and trains their problem-solving skills. This is because skating trains one's motor skill, it requires a strong mind and body connection as well as hand-eye-coordination to be able to coordinate well. Every time they learn a new skating skill or trick, their brain is stimulated by figuring and adapting on how to do the trick. This trains their brain on problem solving and could be useful for them in school as well as in real life applications.

However, others may think that skating is a dangerous sport and would not recommend it to young people. This is because skating requires one to go through a trial-and-error process that could sustain one a few injuries to reach the end goal. Doing skating tricks on obstacles are also quite risky. Thus, skating poses a risk when participating in it. So, I would understand if other may discourage against this sport.

Despite this, I still stand with my point. I believe that with proper precautions and safety gears, youths could benefit from skating as a sport as it keeps them healthy and train their problem solving skill.

Firstly, I would create the recreational area in such a way where it would be free to all. This would be especially important for teenagers, whom are mainly still students and have no job to pay for paid entry. This can be clearly seen from the popularity of ActiveSG gyms, which is free to all due to government-funded vouchers, where many young people would be seen there exercising. Personally, I've experienced many instances where I would like to practice dancing however, the dance studios in Singapore are not cheap. Hence, I feel that more young people would be more appealed to visit my recreational area if it were to be free.

Secondly, I would make the recreational area more "hip" looking. Young people are more intrigued by the 2000s aesthetic. Therefore, I would hire artists or even graffiti artists to design and paint the area which is more suited for younger people. In this day and age, where technology and social media is used by everyone, investing in the importance of the aesthetic can help gain visitors as my area would have "Instagrammable-worthy" photos. Therefore, increasing my visitor rate in the recreational area.

Finally, I would make the recreational area have plenty of amenities such as vending machines filled with snacks and plenty of water dispensers. I feel that younger people tend to have a "snacking" habit. Personally, I particularly would love a treat as I exercise to keep me enrergised. During dance practices, I would always have a skittle pack in my bag for me to snack on. Not only that, since my recreational area would be used mainly for exercising this would be a good way for young people to fuel their energy to continue to use my recreational area. Furthermore, I am able to gain some revenue from these vending machines which can fund for the maintainance of the recreational area since it would be free to all (from 1st point)

If I were to designer a recreational area for young people, I will break down into two different parts social interactions and physical activities.

Firstly, I will create beautiful hangout spaces for youth to sit back and relax. In the hangout spaces, there will be equipment such as a performing area so that young people could perform, sing, and even poetry. Teenagers in general always have a creative mind, so why kill it? Therefore with this hangout space, they cannot only unleash their creativity, they could also pursue their interest and hobby. With this hangout spaces, young people can also socialise with each other and also get to experience other hobbies in which they could pursue in the future, too. Therefore, an eye-catching hangout space would fit beautifully to the section of recreational area for young people.

Secondly, I’m will create a multifunction sports hall, in which everyone and anyone can show their wonderful sport skills. I’m certain that the majority of young people, including me, don’t really like to do, cardio workout and exercises such as running, pull-ups, etcetera. Therefore, having a multifunction sports hall, in which young people can play sports GAMES such as basketball, badminton, table, tennis, etcetera, can not only have fun with other people, but to also practice a healthy lifestyle at a young age. This is why I would create a spectacular sports hall for young people.

In conclusion, a perfect recreational area for young people, in my opinion, consist of hangout spaces to rest and unleashed their creativity, and also a multifunction sports hall to have fun with other people that age and to practice a healthy lifestyle.

Yes I would recommend such a recreational activity for young people as firstly, it is a form of exercise, which can help relieve stress. Since exercise releases endorphins, which are known as the feel good hormone, young people will naturally begin feeling less stressed and start feeling happier. For example, going skateboarding after school can give us some time to relax and take our mind off schoolwork and other responsibilities. At the same time, these kinds of recreational activities improve coordination , balance and also have physical benefits such as cardiovascular fitness.

Secondly, young people will be able to learn important values such as perseverance, grit and responsibility. For example, perseverance and grit can be learnt through mastering a new skill, as it would take multiple failures and tries to learn and master something new. Skateboarding can also teach young people the value of responsibility as they will have to be responsible for their own safety and others near them. This can be done by wearing protective gear before skateboarding and by being aware of your surroundings while skateboarding to prevent crashing into others. These values are important for young people, and will serve them well in the future.

However, some might say that young people will be more prone to sustaining injuries during skateboarding. This is due to the fact that skateboarding is an extreme sport, meaning it has a higher risk factor than most. Therefore, young people could lose their balance and fall off the skateboard, sustaining serious injuries such as fractures or broken bones. This in turn can affect their studies as they will be inconvenienced because of such an injury. For example, if you broke or fractured your right arm, most young people will not be able to write, which will make it difficult to finish tests, homework, etc without additional support.

However, these consequences can be prevented by wearing the suitable safety gear such as helmet, knee guards, elbow guards to prevent the risk of attaining serious injuries. Young people should also try to access their own ability and the risk factor of certain skills to keep themselves safe.

Yes, I would like to recommend this activity for young people. Firstly, skateboarding can help people to keep off their phones by entertaining them when they go to skateboard parks. When young people keep off their phones, it may release their mental pressure and stress off their shoulders, helping them feel rejuvenated. For example, when I was about 7 years old at a skateboard park, a kind soul helped me to get on my balance and gain confidence on how to control or maneuver the skateboard.

Secondly, Skateboarding is also an individual sport which does not require teamwork or team bonding, however, it can build bonds between people who hold a common interest of skateboarding.

However, skateboarding is also very limited for people who have a loss of mobility and balanced such as the disabled. Skateboarding can cause these immobilised people's current condition to be worse, and can also cause people to have paralyzed. At a skateboard park, I saw someone fall neck first from quite a high slope and they unfortunately became paralyzed.

Hence I would like to recommend such a recreational activity to young people.

Stand- I would recommend such a recreational activity for young people.

P- Firstly, such activities promote active lifestyles.

E- Skateboarding is strenuous and improves cardiovascular health, enhancing well-being. With a vast majority of young people nowadays glued to their personal devices 24/7, I believe that this is a healthier alternative.

E- For example, my cousin enjoys going to the SCAPE park in Orchard to skateboard with his friends. He shared that skateboarding is his mode of stress relief and has enriched his well-being.

L- I believe that recreational activities would benefit young people.

P- Secondly, such a recreational activity can foster discipline.

E- As I mentioned before, skateboarding is a very demanding sport that requires a lot of time to master. Skateboarding is a challenging activity requiring balance, synchronisation and coordination. Such recreational activities can motivate young people to be consistent in harnessing their skills and learn new tricks, which promotes self-development.

E- For example, my cousin also shared with me that he became a more disciplined person, as he planned a routine to develop his skills and balance his academics at the same time.

P-However, some may argue that they wouldn't recommend such activities due to health risks.

E- Recreational activities are challenging, with even balancing being a formidable feat. Young people easily get hurt while practising, which can negatively affect them.

C- However, I believe that with protective gear and caution, risks can be minimised. All in all, I would recommend such a recreational activity.

Students in current years have heavy workload and schedules. Some may hence feel stressed and overwhelmed and needs a place to seek refuge to be at peace. If i were to be given a chance to design a recreational area for young people, i would design a multi purpose room where students can study and also have discussions with peers. The room should be in quiet pastel colors to give a more calm and peaceful vibe. This way students who do not have a conducive environment at home will have a place to do their work with no distractions for free. The room must also be furnished with big tables and comfortable chairs hence students can study together and will be a good environment for group projects and discussions. This can better help a students mental well being, helping them reduce stress.

Another idea i have if i was given the opportunity to design a recreational area for young people is an active centre. Some students are very sports inclined, and when the stress levels are high, they will do sports to seek refuge and be at ease. Hence i would design a centre with basketball and badminton courts as these are the sports that can bring people together. And playing with friends or forging friendships can allow one to forget about the stress and be relaxed and have fun. I will also include a gym, hence people can have their personal workouts in peace and also keep healthy. Some people will feel more motivated after workouts, hence it would be a beneficial facility for the young.

All in all, students need a place where they can take a break from the busy life and recharge so that they will be able to function properly the next day. And with more exams coming up, this recreational area can help youth cope better and have a place where they can still be productive while being at peace.

Yes i would recommend such a recreational activity for young people.

Firstly, Golf is a sport which allows youths to exercise and stay healthy. Golf requires a lot of energy and different muscles in the body. This allows young people to stay fit and train their body endurance.

Secondly, Golf is a game which that requires focus and calmness, this is good for young people as the point of doing recreational activities is for users to be able to relax which is qualities that golf can provide.

lastly golf is not as physically demanding as other sports unlike football and basketball which requires a lot of cardio compared to golf. Making it the prefect recreational activity compared to other physically demanding sports as it can be very stressful and competitive, which may cause stress upon teenagers due to the competitiveness. Hence, i think that golf will allow young people to relax and would be the perfect recreational sport for youngsters

I agree to a certain extent, as I feel that the assertion that people having less time for recreation nowadays is partially accurate. In today's fast-paced world, many individuals find themselves with diminishing leisure time, a trend that has significant implications for mental and physical well-being.

Firstly, I believe that the demand for work, side hustles, and a culture that prioritizes productivity over well-being has eroded the time available for genuine leisure and recreation.

Between tasks, I often find myself reflecting on how much time I spend enjoying life. But things like school, homework make me wonder when I last took a walk without purpose or read a book for pleasure. This reflects on how the nature of work today affects our work-balance, deteriorating our quality of life, thus disallowing people from the inclusion of recreation in their lives.

Secondly, the pervasive influence of digital devices is another factor that has forbidden people from including time for recreation in their lives. The ever-evolving landscape of technology abound emerges social media platforms, video games etc. Many people, including youths, dedicate a substantial amount of their leisure time using their digital devices, such as phones, iPads, and computers. The constant influx of notifications and the allure of social media can fragment attention and reduce the quality of leisure time. In the UK, for example, young people spent over a third of their leisure time which is approximately 14 hours per week. The addiction to digital devices may lead to a decline in physical activities like sports and outdoor play, contributing to a more sedentary lifestyle, forbidding individuals from spending time for recreation.

However, others may disagree that people nowadays have less time for recreation. It would be unjustifiable to dismiss that a significant portion of people do incorporate recreational activities into their daily lives.

For instance, ever since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, multiple people, including me, had found something productiveto do to cure boredom. Such activities include making music, drawing and painting etc. This may be due to how more people start to appreciate life at it's fullest when in times of suffering through quarantine.

In conclusion, modern working culture, the negative influence of technology are all contributing factors that disallow people to indulge in recreation.

If I were to design a recreational area for young people, it would be a vibrant and multi-purpose space that combines fun, relaxation, and creativity.

Firstly, I would include a modern indoor gaming and tech zone, where young people can play video games, try out virtual reality, and even learn basic coding or robotics. Many youths are interested in technology, so this space would allow them to have fun while developing useful digital skills.

Next, I’d create an area with glass independent rooms that benches, greenery, and free Wi-Fi are put inside, where young people can just relax, talk with friends, or even study together. It’s important to have spaces that allow for both socialising and quiet time.

I would also add a basketball court and a small open field for sports like soccer or frisbee, to encourage physical fitness. For those who prefer the arts, I’d include a wall for graffiti art and an outdoor stage where music or drama performances can take place.

Finally, the area would be well-lit and monitored for safety. Equipping with equipment like AED and medical kit, to ensure people's safety to the largest extent. Coupled with water fountains and eco-friendly features like solar lights.

Overall, I want the space to be inclusive — whether someone is sporty, artistic, tech-savvy, or just wants to hang out. A well-designed recreational area should help young people stay active, express themselves, and feel like they belong.

I mostly agree that people have less time for recreation nowadays, especially when compared to the past.

One main reason is that many people, especially students and working adults, have very busy schedules. For example, students often have long school hours, extra tuition, and homework. Adults may work overtime or have to bring work home. This leaves little time for rest, let alone recreation.

Another reason is that more time is now spent on transporting and responsibilities at home. In cities, many people travel long distances to school or work, which takes up a lot of time each day. At home, they may have to help with housework or take care of family members, which reduces their free time even more.

However, I wouldn’t say everyone has less time. Some people choose to make time for recreation because they understand it’s important for mental and physical health. Also, technology created virous platforms that have made it way more easier to enjoy short breaks — like watching tiktok or instagram, and playing mobile games — even during busy days, people can still enjoy a short moment of relaxation in the cracks.

In conclusion, while I agree that many people have less time for recreation due to their demanding schedules, I believe it's also a matter of how we manage our time and priorities.
