What if we are actually dead?

What if when we are born in our world we are actually being reborn after the death of our previous self in the real world? That the ghosts we see are actually glimmers of the real world, that they get violent when they see us sometimes because it scares them to see us because we are ghosts? When we die in this world we are actually born in the real world and that world is the one we consider heaven? Maybe this is why we get glimmers of 'past lives', because those are actually glimpses of the other world?

Are humans animals?

Now i know some people will look at this and just scoff at the seemingly obvious answer "yes". But i have known people that sincerely believe that we are not animals but some form of other biological thing completely separate from animals because of our "higher intelligence" and our "obviously more advanced society". But i believe we are animals because of more than just the biological facts, because we are not the smartest or most advanced animals out there! Why do we consider ourselves smarter for doing things like creating devastating weapons that could wipe out the earth? Or for creating social environments that drive so many of our own kind to kill themselves? Or even for wiping out huge swathes of land and killing all the animals there just to make room for our environment destroying homes, businesses, and entertainment!

Why do we consider ourselves superior to other animals?

People often will say we are the superior race in this world, but i believe that although we may know more about the universe and the world than most other animals, we are not superior. Why would a lion cub care about what a atom looks like? Or what the chemical composition of a planet 80 light years away is? THe answer is it probably never will, but it will be much happier than than a large amount of the human race. It will most likely have a loving mother, food, playmates/friends, and a place to sleep at night with its family. It will never be teased by its friends for being too fat, it won't have to deal with being thinking it's not perfect. it won't have to be on the edge of a nervous breakdown because it doesn't have enough money to live off of and can't get a job. So consider it, even though we think that we are superior because we don't have anyone higher up on the food chain as an immediate threat, we still have ourselves and that seems to be enough when people commit genocide or rape others.

What Is Our Purpose In Life?

I believe that our purpose in life is not some crazy philosophical thing that we need to spend years on. Our purpose in life is to survive and to survive better than our predecessors. This means that we need food, shelter, water, relationships, to mate, and to play. The only thing that should change is how we do it! Like our ancestors long ago ate raw meat, drank from streams, lived in caves or trees, and mated when they could and would form groups for relationships and would play with the environment. Then nowadays we eat complicated food, creme brulee, tacos, spaghetti, we drink water from taps or bottles, we have complicated social lives, we choose partners and create far less children than we used to, and use computers or phones or other modern devices to play with. We live because we survive and we survive because we try to live. (note: this is based on middle class 1st world people).

All the World's a Stage by illiam Shakespeare

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first, the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.
And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lined,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slipper'd pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side,
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

Source: http://www.familyfriendpoems.com/poem/all-the-worlds-a-stage-by-william-shakespeare#ixzz3D9hndTCr
Family Friend Poems

Psychology: Psychodynamic Analysis

In psychology there is a method called psychodynamic analysis, created by Sigmund Freud. As i was learning about this recently i began to wonder if it held any credibility and i think it does. It is based on free association and dream analysis, both of which i have always believed said something about a person. It also involves 3 things; the Id, the ego and the superego, the Id is your primal desires, your ego is how you unconsciously, preconsciously and consciously try to get what your Id wants in a socially acceptable way, and the superego is our completely conscious mind and the ideas and morals we accept and follow. Now while there is a LOT more to this method i am only going to focus on this. I believe that Freud was correct with his analysis and agree with his conclusion that of the existence of the Id and the superego (although i probably would have named them differently) but i have to question the ego. I think that the ego and superego could be combined because they do almost the same thing, they try to get what the Id wants in what the person being examined would deem a socially acceptable way. Although they do have differences such as the fact that the ego involves more of the unconcious mind.

The Unconscious

The unconscious is a very interesting thing to me. It holds all our fears and hopes, our desires and the things we don't notice but still absorb, and it creates our dreams. Although the unconscious id definately a separate thing from our conscious, i do believe that they can and do interact. Whether it is in the form of our dreams, in a quick dodge of something you didn't even realise was coming towards you until right before it would have hit, or by putting forward details or memories when you really need it. It also stores all the things you don't want to think about, like a memory that was hurting your consciousness, or the desire to be in total power over others. It does this not only so that you can go on day to day and not have to worry about it, but also because it may be something that your consciousness deems not safe for its health or for social interaction (or it interferes with your ability to get what your primal desires want).

Art is extremely important because it allows for the individual to release their creativity and to express any emotions the artist might have. In the past art was more of an effort to record the times and to make them as accurate as possible. Nowadays we have things like abstract art. While i may not favor the abstract arts myself because of the way many artists will put a blob of paint and say it is some crazy emotion, i do enjoy it when it is a piece that is pleasing to the eye to look at, especially when it includes color. But anyway back on topic, i think that art should always be a class in school for those, like myself, who are more artistically inclined.

(in most cases, not all) That is why we must learn tolerance and teach our children not to hate others because they are different and to accept them.
