Students deeply analyzed literature, collaborated/shared ideas - also learned the nuts and bolts of creating a podcast - inflection etc. - Soundtrap add - mentor podcasts that were not about the same topic - purposely not exposing them to something they will try to replicate . - 2 weeks in her 50 minute class - started with a scoring rubric

After this reflection we discussed providing higher level learners with extension activities or provide them with opportunities to help other groups during their podcasting process. We would also like to teach students how to include sources in their podcast. One concern we have with incorporating some of these techniques is whether the recording activity would be considered rigorous in our school building. The activity would need to be grounded in reading or writing skills.

One thing that may not work in my teaching environment is we don't have as much technology access as we would like. I can relate to the school in the Bronx who only had the use of their laptops and cellphones. We would have to do the same.
3. I would recommend this podcast to the upper grade level teachers (3rd-5th) because I can see this being beneficial to allowing those students to have a voice in a way they are not used to using it. I really believe they would enjoy learning and using this feature to complete class projects and/or assignments. I also think our student council would benefit from this. They can use it to be a voice for the school community.

1. I learned that student podcasting IS possible, even with limited resources thanks to readily available technology like simple and free audio recording software that comes on most phones.

2. The time constraints of this might be difficult, as in the podcast the teacher involved states that for a quality product, you really need to give the students the time to do this well. So, in my classroom, it would be difficult to do unless I'm doing it as a performance task

3. I would recommend this to one of the teachers I share a room with, as he is also a big podcast/audio listener

It is a very useful tool for differentiated instruction. It's a unique way to get to hear student voice and getting away from the usual pen and pencil especially for those subjects that do not end with a regents exam. It demands student to plan and use their own creative talent and voice than just copying other people's idea in a presentation.
