Thank you Mr. Mas Hashimoto for joining us on such an exciting event that our high school will definitely remember! Your speaking and presentation skills are truly magnificent, as well as your presentation itself! I felt captivated and in awe whilst you were speaking, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. You make various great points, stating that the only race is the human race, and that similar to a dog we should be color blind to brush off negative thoughts about others' skin tone. Your enthusiasm, and your passion truly showed that there are topics a school textbook definitely does not cover. Overall, I hope you had a wonderful time hearing our poetry and being at our school. I look forward to hearing more from you later on! -Jason Nolasco

I will never forget how you stated that even you yourself were racist at one point. Sadly, we all can be at one point. I will also never forget how much of great, kind person you are. I really want to thank you for giving us your time to give us your speech. Thank you so much for the heartwarming presentation! One thing that will surely stick with me is to definitely be more kind to others no matter how they look or where they are from and to appreciate my privileges as a minority.
-Asul Garcia

You're amazing! Your speech was very funny and engaging to listen to. I laughed when you talked about Jennifer Lopez and I found it funny when you correlated those who think of blue-eyed, hunk, of a man, to Hitler. But all jokes aside. I was very much inspired by your stories. The way you talked about the gas station and realizing you were a racist. Was a great twist. I never really got to delve into the racism in our country, but your speech really helped me to measure how embedded it is in America, even today. I'm sorry that you were cut short by the bell, but I loved your presentation.

                                                                                                                                           -Israel Banez

Mr. Mas Hashimoto, your presentation was very interesting to hear. As a high school student a particular part in your speech really resonated with me, this was when you said something along the lines of "If your school work isn't going all that good, well, you better get started." As someone who believes they can truly do better in their school work I can honestly say it was eye opening. I know from your experience you were able to get ahead and become the educated person you are today even with your many struggles. I want to thank you for your inspiring words, and for coming to our school, I will remember what you said. -Quentin Gutierrez
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Mr. Mas Hashimoto, your speech was very phenomenal, you found a way into our hearts being one of the most recent generations, by taking us on a journey where your life was drastically different from ours today. Learning the history about us is interesting, but what makes it so different and fascinating at the time of your speech was that we got to hear the full story from the person that had experienced all the adversities himself, right in front of our eyes. I have been certainly affected dearly by that, and it makes me think how grateful we should be with our current lifestyle, as others' were more restricted back then, with such regulations that shouldn't have became an issue to begin with. Thank you so much, I hope you had a wonderful time here and I look forward to hear more from you in the future!
- Jyrex Kerol

I always liked quotes from others when I read them, however one quote has always been something that I can't appreciate when I read it. "History repeats itself". It's one of those quotes that you can't seem to shake no matter how far people learn. It always comes up in history when one creates an issue and "Conveniently" forgets the truth. History has a way of proving this quote right. I like to say this with a grain of salt that we have made differences since learning from past mistakes and have made strides to lessen divides of issues shown within the public. which is where my other favorite quote comes in. "Those who do not learn history is destined to repeat it". Which is why I have to thank you Mas-さん. Thanks to you as well as many others who work day and night to help remind the travesties that was caused by our government so that we shall never forget it. So that we will prevent History from repeating itself. I wish you the best as you continue to do the best you can.

Yours Truly,

-Frank Wang

Mr. Hashimoto, your presentation last Wednesday was nothing short of remarkable! Your story is something that I have found inspiration in considering my own experience as a Filipino immigrant moving into a very diverse town such as Salinas. Your courage, perseverance, sense of humor, and wisdom will take me far in my journey, no doubt. Your message, "I wish people were color blind too," struck a chord within the reaches of my heart. I can speak for many when I say that often times, we are guilty of depending solely on someone's outward appearance, whether it be the color of their skin or shape of their eyes, for our judgment of them. The solution to this problem simply starts with what you had done: self-realization. Different people of different cultures can thrive and co-exist successfully if we simply choose to become "color-blind." You and I are living proof that the spreading of cultures is not something to denounce, but something to embrace. Thank you very much for sharing and coming to Alvarez! We greatly appreciate it!

Sincerely,

Allyson Mabul

It was sentimental when you talked about your dog, coming all the way from California to Arizona, and I understood the heartfelt when you were happy to see them again. I also had the same realization when you said that you had racist thoughts about two different companies because of the color of their skin; I could understand the frustration that might've been going through your head at that instance. Especially when you emphasize that the actions the United States government did to intern the Japanese-Americans was illegal-- I was afraid. Your speech connected to us from Alvarez High school because of the situation that is happening at this moment, and for that I want to thank you for inspiring the students with your story.

Theresa

It is almost like outer space: everyone knows it's there, and that it exists, but few are brave enough to explore the vast void. But then, you decided to come to our high school, and share with us some secrets that came from the other side of the wire fence. The topic discussed was heavy, and difficult to understand for some. Yet, you delivered in in such a way--with humor and a light-heart--that it captured our attention completely. The discussion and presentation were enjoyable, but the topic was not. Even still, I wish to go back to that day in the theater, and rehear your words. The only downside to that is the short amount of time; I wish I can hear your story and experiences to the fullest.

Thank you for taking the time to visiting our school and give that awesome speech. You have no idea how much it means for you to spread this awareness. Especially during times like these. Your story has thought me to fight for what is right and to not allow such an event to be repeated again.
-Mary A.

Thank you so much for attending our event and telling your story. I understand that it is hard to admit we are guilty of the crime we are trying to advocate against, like racism. It takes a lot of courage to admit something like that but I feel that we needed to hear that. You are an inspiration to many people including myself and I know a lot of people are and will continue to benefit from your speeches and your story and I thank you for the change that you have sparked in my community.
