Hi Alex,

 

Samil – I worked with the staff to help him attend to the TeachTown program on the IPAD, but it was very difficult, given that we can’t help him in any way and he doesn’t seem like he understands the concept of a touch screen and how to manipulate an IPAD.  We used his milk as reinforcement, but it was very difficult even with withholding the milk until he interacted with the IPAD for a short time.  My recommendation would be to continue to use the milk, maybe have a first / then board with first IPAD / then milk and use a timer to signal when reinforcement is available (milk).  I would also expose him to the IPAD (outside of teachtown) so he can get familiar with the IPAD, the touchscreen and all the features so when it is time for TeachTown, he will be more familiar and hopefully require less support from the staff. 

 

Kyrie – He did a great job, coming back to the table after his tantrum without additional prompts from staff.  He independently came back to the table and completed his teach town curriculum.  I would continue to ignore his tantrums and allow him to return to the workstation on his own as he did today.  Use the token board to get him back so he knows he earns tokens at the table for appropriate behavior.  Also, as we discussed, use the token board for reinforcing appropriate behaviors at the table, even during baseline measures. 

 

Samuel – Fade your proximity when running the turn taking program and hold out your arms to signal that he needs to hand over the item to you when it is “your” turn.  Use the visuals as needed.

 

Aneudy – I will get you those pictures next week when I come again so we can post them at the doorway.  

Jacob – He utilizes a total communication approach when wanting to request something, typically by taking the hand of his communicative partner.  Have him use the IPAD to request so that he doesn’t require another person to fulfil the request.  He will become more independent with the request if it is independent of another person.  Does that make sense?
