She had 125 more counters than L. How many counters did L. have?

A(nalyze) - What's the question?

D(raw) - set up an equation or bar diagram

S(olve) - 225 - 125 = 100

Today, each table group got a question to work on. In their
table groups they were each given a communicator board that had the parts of
the ADS model on it and asked to do that part of it on their communicator
board. For example someone had the solve part, the draw part, a bar model part
and etc. Good form of ADS going on in 4th grade!

It also lets them see there are
multiple ways to get to the same answer, and that if one strategy doesn't work
that they can dip into their "bag of tricks" instead of just giving
up.
