If we provide students with increased opportunities for assessment for learning (formative) through the use of technology, such as (but not limited to) possibly administering the CAT4 (Canadian Achievement Test for Grade nine), completing the MyBlueprint learner profile and engaging in teacher/student conversations (e.g. online discussion boards), to identify and address specific areas of student need in literacy, then students will develop the ability to reflect on their learning and engage in appropriate assessment as learning activities.

If we provide opportunities for 21st Century Learning in numeracy using real world data, experts, and technology such as digital cameras, film, web 2.0, podcasting, video, graphing technology, assistive software to engage students in exploring, comprehending, and solving authentic problems then our students will develop their evaluating/reasoning, synthesizing, and higher-order thinking skills.

If we provide opportunities to raise awareness of appropriate pathways for students and parents, through the promotion of credit rescue, peer tutoring, Counting On You, teacher-student conferencing and MyBlueprint to support students in choosing appropriate programming, then students will be increasingly successful with course completion.

Setting: Caf, 7 double tables (Rick)
5 min - Get iPads, log into Padlet URL (Jamey to create Padlet and Projector/etc)
10 min - Rick intro TOA's
10 min - Icebreaker in groups (7)
10 min - in groups of 5 (A/B per table) discuss best practices of how you assess FOR learning For Literacy in your subject area
(SSP Team to record observations/conversations)
10 min- Groups A/B Join together (groups of 10). Share best two or three ideas from small group.
10 min - post group ideas on Padlet - entire school (visual on stage in Caf) - also done throughout
15 min - BREAK
60 min - Office 365 Training: break off into two groups, Still Investigating Group & Early Adopters Group

If we provide students with on-going anti-bullying education and supportive intervention strategies such as digital citizenship education, the Choose Action campaign and our Speak Up initiative activities to raise awareness about the effects of bullying and encourage students to be up-standers in their school community, then the reported number of bullying incidences will decrease and the climate for learning will improve.
