There is sometimes a barrier between students who can afford additional costs of opportunities and those who can't.
5) more openness and support of the LGBTQ+ community: the feeling among students that this type of diversity is "accepted" [tolerated?] more than it is embraced. They would like to see more policy and structural changes that support this type of diversity.

I want to ensure that every student feels comfortable and seen/heard. This might take the form of policies, community building -- actual steps taken to move in that direction. I also want to keep on deepening my understanding of our school community, and of DEIJ issues in general.
Maki
