This assignment showed me an interesting way to provide information to my students. I have always seen people do voice overs on videos and never thought I could create something like that. In this class, we were required to choose a book and read an excerpt from the book. With it being my first time creating something like this, it took me a while to figure out how to get it to work. Once I got it, it opened my opportunity to provide a more detailed lesson to the students who do not understand the information. As well as incorporate this into the days that I would be out, so that no instruction is missed. I chose this assignment because with it being my first time, I am very proud of what I created and learned to be able to implement into my own classroom.

READ 7131: Literacy Synthesis

Literacy Synthesis provided me with a way to explain all of the different topics that were taught this semester. It made me have a better understanding of literacy truly is and what that may look like in my own classroom. It also helped me to reflect on how much literacy I was actually implementing in my classroom. I realized it was not enough. Understanding the environment in which my classroom is set up impacts my students ability to grow their literacy skills. It helped me to understand that I need to be more intentional about the type of assignments that I am giving to my students. Yes, they need to know the content but when I give them a topic to write an essay about, will they be able to support their own claim with evidence? Before I give them the essay, we have to work on building an essay and the process, even in Social Studies.

This activity helped me to understand who I am and what I bring into my own classroom. Being able to become aware of who I am as a person, helps to establish boundaries and expectations in my classroom. This assignment gave me a new way to connect with my students. Have a better understanding of their own thoughts and morales, so when I am creating lessons I can keep those things in mind. Doing this assignment I feel will bring a sense of community into my classroom and also show support to my students from their peers. This also help my students to start thinking about who they are as people.

This assignment was a cumulative assignment over everything we learned throughout the class. While doing this assignment, with every topic I had to discuss what I would do to implement into my own classroom. Doing this assignment, it helped me to reflect on who I was as a teacher. It helped me to understand to be more intentional with my students and understanding who they are as students in order to be able to effectively teach them. My favorite section on this assignment was "Motivation to Learn". This section helped me to know how to keep my students motivated and why many times they aren't motivated. It motivated me to be more intentional with the activities that I provide to them.

When I was creating my mindmap, I had no idea what this tool was or how it would help me with my growth as a teacher. After completing this assignment it helped me to understand how to utilize my social media to support me as an educator. With the topics that I picked they catered to what I was dealing with within the classroom. Understanding teacher burnout and leaning on a social media community that is sharing the experiences is important to have. Instagram also had different accounts that also helped with my content and being able to utilize technology in the classroom. I now find different accounts that I feel cater to me and my needs as a teacher. I do this across all social media platforms.

In this class, we did reflections each week based on the readings provided. This particular one, we had to choose a myth we found interesting from the reading. I chose: eating sugary snacks results in hyperactivity and reduced focus and attention and teenagers lack the ability to control their impulses in the classroom. As I read about this topic, it made sense how this was a myth because I have noticed in my own classroom that when students eat sugary snacks there is no change in their behavior. Once I was done with my own reflection, we had to create a collage that represented students mind and how they correlate in the classroom.
