A community without support is like a car with no engine, it won't go anywhere. Being around such negativity in the community traumatizes you, to a point where you don't feel safe. It’s hard to build healthy relationships because people look at you like an enemy. Without teamwork our community won’t get stronger or better, but if you do you're part you should be okay. If everyone in the community would work together on cleaning up, stop killing, or even just be nice.

“Only 42% of people in rural areas wore a mask always or most of the time while close to people outside their household” (Key). Even though rural towns are fewer in number, they are still at risk and putting others at risk. Not wearing a mask in public can be a big issue since it can increase the amount of time we are in a quarantine state and it also increases the amount of people that are being exposed. Something we can do to spread awareness and influence others to wear a mask by listening to them on why they don’t wear one and try to change their decisions in a considerate way.

How does social media affect mental health? Social media can make you think you need to look a certain way for people to like you, it can make you feel lonely, isolated, and can even cause depression. You have this feeling that you have to have the same opinion as everyone else because if you don’t then you immediately get hated on about everything. If these problems aren’t fixed the mental health of millions of people is just going to get worse. The solutions should be to change all of these standards, to spread awareness about what is happening.

Should teachers be responsible for making the lives of their students less stressful? Students are under immense pressure and stress when having to deal with school and homework. Students have to deal with a lot such as school, homework, social life, home life, and work. At its worst all of these responsibilities turn into stress, that leads to kids being moody and affects them mentally and sometimes physically. Without helping kids deal with this stress it will cause them to hold it in and not express what they feel. Because So many Young kids are affected by stress, Teachers and parents should pay more attention to their kids and help them deal with it whether it be through giving less responsibilities or helping them express themselves.

Although it’s highly treatable, only 36.9% of people recieve treatment. Their mental health is more likely to suffer if this isn’t dealt with and can lead to depression or anxiety. Not only mental health but physical health can take a toll, such as increase in heart attack, strock, and hypertension. Because many health factors are a risk, it is essential to practice mindfulness, consider supplements, and get rid of anything that can keep causing stress.

Have you ever had an argument with your parents over something you lied to them about? I have and over something that wasn't even worth it. Lying to parents can cause not only arguments but also trust issues with each other. Arguments can lead to distancing yourself from your family which is something you don’t want. You want to always have trust with you and your parents because you should be able to tell them everything. Lying caused by conflicts with parents is a thing that happens sometimes but you just need to be reasonable with them and trust them.

Can social media destroy your mental health and cause depression? Although many use social media as a platform to connect with others around the world, social media can be very dangerous to children and young teenagers. Social media is highly linked in increasing mental health problems which include anxiety and depression. All these countless hours that are spent on social media leads to addiction, comparing yourself to others, loss of sleep, and laziness. A good way to promote this world wide issue is getting this situation out there and having public speakers who have experienced the harm social media can do, speak out to children and young teenagers.

Due to the covid-19 outbreak students from many schools have been receiving failing grades. It is so bad that some students might not be able to graduate. Since distance learning started students have not been learning the same way as if they were in a classroom. Students are not logging in to their classes causing them to fall behind on their work. They also are not paying attention to the lesson and are getting low scores on tests. Some students just are lacking motivation and self discipline. School staff should come up with creative ideas to help motivate the students to do better in school. Students should also do their part to try to get their work done so that they can move onto the next grade level or graduate.

"A bad relationship can do that, can make you doubt everything good you ever felt about yourself." - Husein Nishah. The quote shows an unhealthy relationship can bring people into a bad mindset. In the beginning, these relationships can happen at any time in the world. Next, having a long-exposure to the relationship can lead to mental or physical harm to the victim. This information can help people to avoid or fix this relationship for their health. Toxic relationships can leave the victims with low esteem, depression, or ignoring their personal needs. The way to help is to find support with others and don't allow the victims to become stuck in the past.

Has your child ever fallen asleep at a really weird time? Does it seem like their sleep schedule is really off? Well the problem might be that school is really stressful and they have to wake up early and start school work for a majority of the day. This tires out the students for the remainder of the day so they often mess up their sleep schedule. We should lessen the workload on students, so schools don’t put that much stress on students to do all of their work that is assigned for each class. This can also mentally drain kids because of the stress and overwhelming emotions some kids can experience from a lot of work or ruining their sleep schedule. Because schools are putting a ton of stress on kids mentally, they should avoid making students stress out about doing an excessive amount of school work when they get home or finish school. The schools should care more about how a lot of work can affect kids in different ways and how this can be detrimental to their sleep or mental health.

Are you fat and living in the suburbs? Well, look at your sidewalks, that may be the issue… Well obviously it’s not that simple and there is more to it. The predatory land buying of big home builders like Lennar Corp suburbanites faces higher rates of obesity, pollution, and overall life inefficiency compared to cities and rural communities. With pollution, suburban homes are often built on carbon sponges like swamps, which is better for the environment than lawn. With sidewalks and obesity, have you ever noticed sidewalks getting thinner around the newer houses in town? This is to try and get more money from bigger and less efficient houses. Then the car situation, bigger homes allow for more cars which cause more pollution that is barely absorbed by the lawns. This is a horrible thing, millions of Americans are living in poorer conditions due to the greed of home construction companies, this should not be tolerated and the people should fight back.

What were your memories of being a student? Did you remember the amount of fun you had , or did you recall the endless hours of work that you did over the weekend to get the one assignment in on time? Whether or not you have an answer to this isn't important. What's important is the realization of the amount of work students do in school. The amount of work given can even affect a students life in the long run. So here is a way that the education system and students can come together to interact in a healthier way.

Around 50% of the population experiences mental illness in their lifetime. Despite its prevalence in our society, mental illness carries stigma. From the workplace to our own families, mental health is a topic many shy away from. Consequently, treatment is avoided for fear of appearing weak and vulnerable. This is not conducive to healthy individuals. Facing and dismantling these harmful stigmas is the only course of action to a healthier society.

¨Do not speak badly of yourself. For the Warrior within you hears your words and is lessened by them.¨ (David Gemmell) The words you intoxicate yourself to believe can affect your inner mentality and it will slowly start to break you down. Adolescence and young adults have to deal with the constant feeling of insecurity and maybe even embarrassment for certain aspects they roughly critique themselves on. Certain social media apps can greatly affect the way you see yourself from what is being spread throughout the media. These constant self put-downs can lead to anxiety, depression, and or social problems. Since this can ruin the confidence of these young adults and teens especially, they should spend less time on social media because it's unhealthy.

Have you ever wished your life seemed as glamorous as someone on social media? Or have you ever wished your life was the exact same as someone on social media? Many people often feel like this. People feel the need to be as perfect as someone they see on social media. This need can be very harmful not only because it affects your self esteem, but in the process, you are neglecting your true values and beliefs. Due to the harmful causes of wanting to be like someone else, you should really take into consideration that your values are more important, and sometimes what you see on social media is not entirely true.

Have you ever wondered the affects put upon adolescents due to mental illness? Today 1 in 5 young people suffer from mental illnesses, estimating that to be around 20% of our world population. These mental illnesses can cause a wide variety of emotional symptoms that negatively affect adolescents. Although these mental illnesses are a massive problem, only 4% of the total healthcare budget is offered and spent on our mental health. Parents and communities should come together to propose a higher spending budget for mental health, because afterall it may or may not save a kid's life.

Communities are meant to bring people together in order to support and care for one another. However, some people are left out and left to face the traumatization of being alone. They're left alone because they don't "match" with others. This will cause them to feel little of themselves. Due to people being left out of their community, they feel oppressed and unequal, and other in this community should work to make those people feel accepted and equal.

All of us have had a hard time dealing with stress in ways that almost always result in feeling stuck or helpless. If everyone in the world has trouble coping with stress, why hasn’t the problem been solved already? The truth is that fear and anxiety can occur as a result of pretty much anything. Every person is different, and situations that cause stress are very specific to who it is affecting. Unfortunately, most people are unaware of the correct way to cope with these emotions, and oftentimes end up developing unhealthy habits when it comes to dealing with stress. Because there is no medicine that completely eliminates stress, we should start teaching people how to cope with stress themselves starting from a young age.

There are various reasons why people get depression some are more extreme than others, but it all depends on if the person can mentally handle their emotions alone. Many people nowadays don’t express their feelings only because they care about what society says and they feel like they are a burden. Though there is no cure for depression there have been solutions which is to watch the people around you to see if they have symptoms and to let them know that even though they feel like a burden that they are not and that that they need to talk before the situation gets worse.

This increases the risk of being stalked or harassed. The media has been the cause of stalking, harassment, kidnapping, etc. Needless to say, it can be a very dangerous place, but there are steps you can take to be, and feel more secure. Because the media can be hazardous, one should learn steps to be safe and continuously put them to use, and share the steps taken to prevent others from danger.

There are many problems in our communities right now that affect the lives of everybody within. Many of the problems we can never get rid of. Others problems will take the help of everybody to get rid of. There are many regulations that we have to follow in order to be able to fix these problems. Many people may argue that we do not have any problems, but we have problems within our community and we need to do more to fix these problems.

Why do parents believe that pushing away the issues their child feels is the best solution? Even if the parent decides to invalidate their child's issue, because the child is being “over dramatic,” it does more harm to the child than good. When a parent invalidates their child’s feelings or issues, it leads the child to feel as though their emotions are not important. Invalidation creates the child to be incapable of communicating healthy with others. Due to the invalidation leading to emotional baggage, parents should be aware and begin to listen and understand their child’s feelings. Along with this, parents should then figure out how to help their child with the issue.

When you're down, do you ever try to convince yourself that your reasoning for being down, maybe isn't valid? or maybe you've had someone else try and downplay those feelings and almost try to compare situations? This is called emotional invalidating and it is easily one of the most common ways that people can use to destroy their own self confidence. Emotional invalidating shows its true colors In many forms; blaming things on yourself, hiding emotions out of fear of being judged, minimizing your feelings and even minimizing your own emotions to care for someone else. Invalidation is one of the main sources of beginning BPD (borderline personality disorder) wether it is put on you by yourself or by someone else. Due to the fact that even this invalidation is downplayed, there is little to no cure for it, but, there a few things that can help with the chore of building your mind space into a safer place for emotions; validating and realizing every correct thing you do, celebrating the small things, knowing your place and not letting others opinions override your own, etc.

This statistic emphasizes the imbalance and extra stress that being a student athlete adds to a student's life. Often enough, students have to decide between having something that makes them happy, specifically sports, and school. As a society, we show students that it is normal to undergo extreme stress daily. Without fixing this issue, students can develop mental illnesses and have little to no success in both school and sports. The higher stress levels of student athletes contribute to other, worse mental effects later on; parents, teachers, and coaches should all be able to work together to help instead of adding more stress.

Students in low income communities tend to have less accessibility to multiple opportunities due to a lack of funding. Proper funding and more equal opportunities should be granted to these students through different means of funding, such as communal funding, federal funding, and state funding.

Anxiety and depression are common disorders that usually coexist, and we may not even notice it in people or in ourselves. People I know and even I personally suffer with anxiety and people need to know that there are ways to fix it or to cope with it. Anxiety is a serious disorder even though it isn’t taken seriously by many people. There are different pills and specialized therapy to deal with anxiety and the only way to know if it helps is to try it. Anxiety is a major problem that is largely overlooked by many people.

Those who may struggle to get back onto their feet, with what may seem like the world pushing them down, could benefit from people and organizations putting more funding and effort into finding ways to better the systems. Because of the more life and death situations that those who are put into rehab face, it is important to raise awareness and fundings to better the systems. This is not a case where we should be able to go about our days as normal and ignore those struggling around us.

Have you ever wanted to go out and do something in your community, but were unable to find anything interesting and fun to do in your town? This happens to me all the time. I for one am tired of having to go all the way to another city to go to a nice park, or to a bowling alley, or even an arcade. No one likes to sit at home and do nothing every day. Recreational activities allow us to get out of the house and do something fun. Waterford does not have very many things to do. We have some parks and childrens league sports, but there is so much more we could do if we put time and effort towards recreation. Problems start to surface with teenagers today if we start to get bored and run out of entertaining things to do. Having fun things to do and places to hang out are, although it doesn’t always seem like it, really important things to have. If the city of waterford were to put more funding and effort into our parks and recreational activities, it would make a large impact on the town as a whole.

At least 56% of students have cited that the overload of homework is the cause of their stress. Students have to be all day in school. Following rules, to sit up straight, no eating in class, no talking, and paying attention. These are rules that, yes, need to be followed to be able to learn. However, after a long day of school students have to go home only to worry about loads of homework. Because teachers don’t know what is happening in people's lives, an overload of homework should not be assigned.

“Nationwide, an estimated 7.7 million children ages 6 to 17 have at least one mental health disorder, or about 16.5 percent of school age kids, the study found” (Lisa Rapaport). This shows that even kids can have a mental illness and it could get worse if their parents choose to ignore it. Children with a mental illness often get told by their parents that nothing is wrong with them or they don’t believe that they could have a mental illness at their age. Due to their parents not believing them, children could become more distant and not open up to their problems to anyone that wants to help them. Without their parent’s help, they could grow up to have poor mental health. Because inconsiderate parents can give poor mental health to their kids, they should stop ignoring their kids' problems, and actually listen to them so they can help them get through their poor mental health.

“Living in the world these days are really hard because people are no longer honest with each other, being dishonest always causes problems and can lead to getting offended”(unknown). This statement is a reminder of how lying to one another can cause bad trust issues and affect someone's thinking. Trust issues in a relationship can cause difficulties with your partner. It can lead to being overly protective and be on defense. This can lead to a toxic relationship or even your partner wanting to end things. Because trust issues in a relationship can lead to bad things, the person in a relationship with the trust issues should sit down with their significant other and express their feelings. They can also find a way to work things out and figure out why there's trust issues there.

When parents are in an unhappy relationship the conflict between them inflicts on the social and emotional well-being of the children. When there is an unhealthy relationship and both adults are constantly arguing with each other this affects the children in a negative way. The actions of parents shape the actions of their children and if the children are constantly seeing the parents unhappy and constantly having confrontations the children will be the same way. The children sometimes may act out or not perform well in school. Unhealthy relationships create unhealthy lives for the children. Finding a solution and figuring out how to work together instead of having constant conflict could change the way the children look at things.

Us as a society are the negative effects we litter, we put our oceans, we put plastic in our oceans and these are just some examples. Using these examples and trying to help people understand that we need to protect our environment hopefully people understand; even a little goes a long way.

Have you ever wondered how many people are affected by an eating disorder? Eating disorders affect 70 million individuals worldwide. An eating disorder is an illness that involves an unhealthy feeling about the food we eat. Eating disorders affect mostly women and teenage girls, but can indeed affect anyone. People that suffer from this usually see themselves as being fat, when in reality they aren’t. The media makes people think we need to have a certain type of body to be happy with ourselves or to be society’s standards. A way to overcome this is having parents educate their child about eating disorders and social media and the effects it has on people.

When you go about your day, does the thought of how many people suffer from mental health evercoss your mind? Or the fact that most people don’t actually receive help for it? There are many factors as to why people don’t receive help, but understanding how it affects people is what's important. When people don’t get the help they need they tend to spiral downward into a deep hole that can be extremely hard to get out of without any help. In the worst case scenario, this can lead to people considering suicide as the only way out, which is a big issue with people not getting any help. Because of how dangerous it can get for people if they don’t obtain any help, it should be a top priority to spread awareness on how people can help others with their mental health, plus on ways to make it more accessible to people.

Is human trafficking dangerous? Although many people don’t think it may be dangerous it is because they are hurting people in many different ways. It can also be dangerous and the person that has been through it may do depression things. Human beings that have been through things like that may be quiet after because their parents don’t check up on them. Which can lead to them being depressed and do things that are bad. It can also cause them depression because they feel lonely and with all the things that happened. Because human trafficking can cause mental health, parents should talk to their children about human trafficking and be more aware of their children.

Does the parents relationship and communication skills affect the kids during the divorce. The way the parents talk definitely affects the kids not only mentally but physically too. I remember watching my parents as a little kid and seeing them always mad and arguing and oftentimes not even talking for days at a time. Since my parents didn't talk there were many times that my brother and I didnt get to eat because there was no food. Not only was not eating was a problem, our clothes also were messed up and ripped and too small. Divorcing parents with poor to no communication can have a huge negative impact on the growing children under both of their care. If the divorcing parents only communtate for the benefit of their children it would be better for the children's healthy and happiness

Bullying on social media has made a negative affect on society and users because sometimes teens and other people who are on these platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and Facebook, start to become depressed and develop many problems because of the words of others that are behind a screen. There are many resources to help people in need that are experiencing cyberbullying such as hotlines, support groups, and websites that offer help. People have many opportunities to get help and heal their mental health and self-esteem.

Depression is also the main contributor to teen suicide.

Can we stop the loneliness and isolation from taking over our time or were we cursed to spend the year inside alone, the only people who may have the answer to this are the ones who have determined how to stop the virus. Since they will be the ones to lead us into a time of happiness where we can spend all the time in the world with those we hold dear. During the time of this virus known as covid19 we are separated from those we care about most which causes a deep wound on our fellow man and to show that we have people who refuse to take the necessary precaution to do stuff like wear masks or keep your distancing to help keep the lives of others safe can hurt badly on top of the loneliness and or sadness you may already be feeling in the first place since we have an isolation order by scientists to government which can leave only a deeper gash onto the wound in the end and although we may not like having to stay inside it is the most necessary precaution of all. The conclusion we can make from this idea that loneliness is very prominent but needed during the time of covid19 is that to stop the loneliness we need to follow the orders of those who know more than us and listen to what they tell us when they say you need to wear a mask and stay six feet apart as it can increase the chance that our happy world can come back as beautiful as it can ever be and although that solution is unlikely nevertheless it is the truest one out there.

People being bullied often have to be treated badly and hear others say mean things about their person. Such negative treatment affects their lives. With this in mind, people tend to develop poor self-esteem and have bad communication with others. Because bullying has an effect in social and mental health, people should think how it could affect those being bullied in their lives, there are also group support offered to help develop their poor self-esteem and mental health.

Nowadays, teenegers suffer from Mental Health. Mental health is an emotional well being, it's how an individual handles stress and copes with life. In the United States, mental disorders affect one in five families. There are ways to solve this problem like psychotherapy and prescription drugs. However, some people are scared to find help for mental health issues due to fears of being stigmatised and discriminated against. A NYU study finds 3.4 percent of the U.S. population which is more than 8.3 million, adult Americans suffer from serious psychological distress. A stigma persists around mental health issues that prevents people from seeking help. On the other hand, people are more open today about discussing mental health issues and mental health services are readily available. Studies have found that mental illness double the risk of dying earlier. Can mental health be changed?

Are schools actually preparing our students to become good workers, and know how to manage jobs and keep one after school? Many people I know who have graduated high school don't know what to do with their life after and it takes time for them to make decisions on jobs and other life choices schools didn't teach them. This can make adulthood hard in the first years of graduating high school or college. I believe if schools focused less on finding the value of X on a graph using the distance formula and rather teaching students how to apply for loans and knowing your income and how to manage time we would be alot better off. Maybe if school systems can have classes that teach students this they would be alot more prepared.
