..our acceptance of violence in our society. If I could change anything, I would change how we view violence in our every day lives. Violence is not just wielded with knives and guns by strangers, but also through words, attitudes and actions by friends, family, the media and institutions. I would try to mobilize a whole community to take action against this problem--not through more violence--but rather through a massive cooperative effort to help those in need, to provide options to those who feel there are none, to rehabilitate and assimilate those who feel like outsiders in society and to educate those who feel like there is no way out of a life fraught with violence.

…our history of racism that will are still continuing from the past. I would change how a lot of people see each other in a racial form of being. Known as hatred from one to another from skin color, language, where we are born, and the religion we follow. Racism has been in act of wars, legal codes, and the way some nations may see each other. I would stand and fight upon those whom may not see fit to be able to be recognize as a regular individuals whom we all were born as equal. I would show each and every individual whom see individuals as an enemy that they hate and distinctively act in domestic violence toward each other; that the path in racism may not lead to a bright future to make this world a safe and inhabitable environment. I would acknowledge and prove to everyone that each human being was born from bones, flesh, and a brain just like everyone in the world and that they may look different from the outside but in the inside, they share the same views on how to live, raise a family, improve or adapt to harsh conditions and have a prospective goal in life.

If I could change anything in the American Society it would be to stop judging one another due to background, ethnicity, culture, age, gender, sexuality, personality, disability etc. We tend to want put people’s differences into groups, which can be okay, but it separates us as a country and tears at our ability to solve problems. For example the democrats vs. the republicans, they always fight against each other to win, but forget to think of the everyday people of this country and what would be best for them. If we just took the time to become more open-minded and be happy to understand differences between people we could solve and prevent so many more issues that we will face.

If I could change anything about our society, it would definitely have to be the way people tend to believe that anyone has more or less rights than the person standing beside them. We are all humans born onto this planet, everyone deserves the same rights. People are so blinded by their beliefs that they forget what it really means to be a human. No one deserves any lesser treatment because of their gender, racial background, religion, or sexuality. People need to realize that discrimination is what’s holding our society behind. It really irritates me when I hear people use their religious beliefs as excuses to back up their discrimination. There are billions of people in the world and there’s no way anyone should expect everyone else to abide by the rules of a single religion. No one is born “better” than anyone else. We are just one race of human beings living together on planet Earth and we need to start behaving in that manner.

If i could change one thing about our society it would be the common mind set that we can do whatever we want with no regard for the environment.The humman effect on earth is so immense and a lot of people dont even realize it. What sets humans apart from other species is our brains. Our brains are what lead us into this mess with global warming and we can use our brains to slow it down if everyone gets on board.

...Our separateness from nature. A life lived close to the Earth is a happy, fulfilling one. In our pursuit of happiness we have forgotten the sacredness of life, including our own. We have chosen our wealth over our health. Once you feel it you will know: health is wealth! We are taught to believe that we are powerless to make changes in the world, as well as in our own lives, that we must buy our happiness, joy, bliss. It makes me laugh, for all these are free, just dependent on our thinking: Mind/Body health. For me it is very much impossible to be happy if I eat processed food. Change your thoughts and you change the world, I say! What you choose to ponder will determine the future of the planet.

If I could change anything I would start with the education of young children, implementing gardening and meditation. This alone will have tramendous benefits. Gardening teaches gentleness and compassion for all living things. A child who grows his/her own food will want to eat it too. Many children become easily frustrated. With meditation in practice they will learn how to calm themselves in any situation, this will lead to a society free of violence. For me peace is not a positive place, but a feeling of ok-ness. To be awesomely ok with everything is how I wish to live. To have peace in the world, we must find peace within ourselves. Stay in love. Don't stray from your mission for too long.

It
amazing me how many people today lack the ability to care about the world
around them. On your commute to school you might see a girl doing their makeup
in the mirror while swerving, and someone else fully turned around reaching
into their back seat to grab something unimportant while completely forgetting
to look at the road in front of them. But the human capacity to overlook major
threats and aspects of society is not just limited to driving, no. every day as
a Santa Cruz local I witness blunt ignorance and defiance of all things smart.
I have seen police officers down town giving homeless peoples tickets for
having their bikes on the side walk. How do you expect a homeless person to pay
a ticket? Society in my opinion really needs to look at its own self
destructive nature, and figure out how to break the cycle. Why do we no longer
help people acquire a home and a steady job after getting out of prison? The truth
of the matter is, the government needs to stop being controlled by “major money”
and needs to start thinking about the bigger picture. What good will your money
be if our planet is destroyed? Our over populated planet will not put up with
our disrespect and neglect forever. If I could change one thing about our
world, it would be the way that humans view their mother earth. If every human
had a universal respect for the earth, not only would it unite people, but our source
of life would be around for much longer and thrive with us taking care of it.

........... Why humans are not ashamed of what we
have become as a whole? One word: money.

If I could change anything in my society/ community, I would change how the healthcare program works. In general terms, i would change how one could obtain health care and how I would make it affordable for all.

I would change a lot of things, but if I could pick one thing to change about our current society it would be the apparent invisibility of modern or "subtle" sexism. I want sexism to be viewed in a way that suggests that it is just as big of a problem as racism or homophobia. In the end it's the same damn thing...discrimination and different treatment based on something that one cannot control.
