Aryans introduced the caste system as a way of controlling the local populations. Hindu divides people into four sections Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras, believed these came from Brahma, Hindu god of creation. Brahma are the intellectuals (head). Kshatriyas, warriors and rulers (arms). Vaishyas, the trades (thighs). Shudras, did material jobs (feet). There are also people not in the caste system called the daltas aka the untouchables

Whatever caste you are born into, is the caste that you are in for the rest of your life. You cannot move up or down. It dictates every aspect of Hindu religious and social life.The upper and lower caste almost always lived in segregated colonies. Nothing is shared between the different castes, including water wells and food. The Brahmans would not accept food or drink from the Shudras or Untouchables because they thought of the people as polluted and if they touched their food it would become polluted.

  • Nearly 45% of African Americans have reported of being abuse of discrimination
