As it is well known and accepted, there is always an antagonist in every story. Whether the story is long or short. There is almost always a bad guy. Or in the case of "Winter" bad women. The antagonist in the book "Winter" is Queen Levana herself. Queen Levana has been the antagonist for all the other 3 books. Queen Levana is the queen of Luna, the futuristic colony on the moon. She is a pretty terrible person she's a tyrant who treats people poorly and manipulates people with her lunar gift. Which was the ability to control one's mind.

The authors name is Marissa Meyer. Believe it or not she is my favorite author. Marissa has written 15 books I believe. All of them are incredible. She is a genius with how her books are so put together and interesting. Her story genre is a mix of fantasy, romance, and Science-Fiction. But one of the best part of her books is that most of them are a retelling of some sort of fairytale. And although the fairytale is from someone else she is still able to make the story hers in some way.

In this book there is more than one climax. The climax can be when Cinder is in the throne room about to be executed for being accused of impersonating the lost Princess, but then her abilities ar put to the test when her and Queen Levana don't battle. But not of the body rather of the mind when they use their Lunar Gift to either defend themselves or to attack the other. But once Queen Levana tires out Cinder, she tries to kill Cinder once again. Until Cinder makes her escape running towards the balcony and jumping of into the river. This moves the story into a new position of hope. Not only for Cinder but for the rest of Luna. Because, since the execution was supposed to be broadcasted all over Luna, all the citizens were able to watch as Cinder jump off into the balcony.

This story is set in a different time frame than ours. Specifically in the Future. More specifically 126 T.E. There is only 7 nations in the book which is very different compared to the 195 we have today. The time that the story is set is much more advanced seeing that they have cyborgs and spaceships just lying around. But the action way of speaking and Learning is still very similar to what we have today. Showing that although they are technologically advanced they still have a lot of older cultural aspects in their community.

Every good story provides some type of figurative language whether it is a metaphor, simile, or a hyperbole. there is always some phrases that might leave the reader thinking what might it mean. An example from the book is on page 258 when Scarlet and Winter had made their escape from the palace after Jacyn fakes Winters death(after Queen Levana had ordered him to kill her.). As they were escaping scarlet took notice of Winters bloody clothes and she then thinks to herself "She was right. They were filthy. They were bloody. Winter was a well loved princess who was prettier than a bouquet of roses and crazier than a headless chicken. Fitting in would be a miracle." Here the author uses a simile comparing Princess Winter to a bouquet of roses and a headless chicken.

Take it. You see how she feels when you look at other girls or say something that might make her uncomfortable, and the way just shake it off. All you need to do is show her that you're worth it. Seeing that Cinder does take the Throne at the end of the story.

The Book Winter is a book I would absolutely recommend, unless you haven't read the other books in the series. Unless you would like to be very confused. As i mentioned in an entry before, Marissa Meyer is my favorite author. These books are why. Marissa is a genius in how she writes. She doesn't only write she tells in amazing story that always ends with a good message. Her books run smoothly and are always connected. Especially Winter, this book wraps up everything that the reader has been waiting for in the the past books. Winter ties up any loose ends and answers any questions that the reader might have been asking for the past books. Now many other authors do this too, but either they leave too many plot holes or leave just enough to keep the reader thinking further about their futures. And Marissa did exactly that . She ended her New York Times Bestseller Series in a perfectly tied up ending.

As the reader continues to read the book many themes and lessons are showed throughout the book. One of the first lessons learned is to not judge a person. This common theme is taught throughout the whole series starting with Cinder being a cyborg then continuing with Wolf who looks and acts differently but is actually like everyone else, Then leading to Cress who was isolated for half of her life making her socially awkward. Then one of the last ones is winter herself who has scars across her face and has lunar sickness. All these characters and many more arent perfect at all but he actions and phrases these characters say makes up for it. Later on in the series the reader finds out the Cinder is the lost princess Selene. Wolf was actually taken against his will from his family and turned into the creature he is now. Cress soon finds love with a guy who is not at all like her. And WInter is able to still be the most gawked at person in all of Luna while she contributes to the revolution. Therefore teaching the reader that just because a person is one way doesn't mean that the characters cannot change into a remarkable hero.

Many of Marissa Meyer's books may look familiar to the reader. Since we were small we have been read, sung, and told many fairy tales and stories when we were children. Marissa Meyer made a way for us to hear those bedtime stories yet again, but in a new version. Marissa has often talked about in interviews and book tours how she loved fantasy and science-fiction. She has also often talked about how her love for these two genres have led her to selling New York Times #1 Bestsellers. She speaks on how she took ideas from well-known fairytale and then made it her own by adding something else that maybe she felt was meant to be there. The book Winter is a retelling of the popular story of Snow White and The Evil Queen. She tells her own version using queen levana as the Evil queen who soon becomes Jealous of her young and beautiful step-daughter, Winter.

Meaning that as story goes on new Protagonist ore added to the story. But the main, and obvious one, is Cinder. She is the root for why everything else was set in motion. But at the end of the book you soon realize that the protagonist isn't primarily a person, at least in this book, but rather a group of people. Who, for the book Winter, is the Rampion Crew. They were who ended tyranny of Queen Levana. If they weren't there helping Cinder get to that throne then Cinder might as well be dead.

Once on Winters arrival Scarlet says "What did you bring me today. Delusional mutterings with a side of crazy."
Winter is known for being the crazy princess due to her Lunar sickness. Lunar sickness is when someone goes insane because they haven't used the Lunar gift in a long time.
