"[The] favor of objectivity was that it freed us from attachments to particular individuals or perspectives," (128).

"Both during my student years and throughout my career as a teacher I have been criticized for having too much passion," causing her to be subjective (127).

"The aim of objectivism is to eliminate all elements of subjectivity, all biases and preconceptions, so that our knowledge can become purely empirical," (129).

Objectivism can lead to an "adversarial relation" to each other as one goes against the opinions and thoughts of others (128).

Teachers must nurture students with "emotional growth" (130).

When the components of love are employed, teachers are learning while teaching and students are learning while giving their perspectives, hence creating a mutual relationship (131).

"The origin of knowledge is love," showing that the teachers or professors deeply care for their students and want them to grow to their potential and thus form bonds.

"The goal of a knowledge arising from life is the reunification and reconstruction of broken selves and worlds."

Page 130:

"[S]tudents want to know exactly what they must do to acquire the best grade."

"Competition in the classroom disrupts connection," which hence disrupts the learning.

Students are pressured to satifiy the teacher and prove that they are as capable and intelliegence or greater than another. Education is not a competition on who is better and is not about achieving high marks; it is about learning and growing intellectually and personally.

Page 132:

"More often than not they are overwhelmed by fear of failure," which impedes their capacity to gain knowledge.

"When students are encouraged to trust in their capacity to learn they can meet difficult challenges with a spirit of resilience."

Page 133:

With love, care, and respect, teacher can "make it possible for students to address their fears openly and to receive affirmation and support."

When students are encouraged to fail, they see them as an opportunity to grow rather than feeling pressured to be accurate and be discouraged from their mistakes.
