Steps to making them

First of all you need to make the icing using icing sugar and water. Once you've made this you need to ice the candy canes together and leave them in the fridge to set. While they are setting in the fridge you can start to make your snowman. For this you will need 1x Large Marshmallow for the body and 1x slightly smaller one for the head. To make the body&head you will need a medium sized cocktail stick to hold the marshmallows in place. If you wanted to you could use a small amount of icing to ensure that the snowman holds it shape but it isn't necessary. For the eyes&buttons all you will need is mini chocolate chips. 7 for the head and another 4 for his buttons. Make another icing but include chocolate syrup and apply a very small amount in the places you need. (Eyes,Nose,Mouth&Buttons) Once you've followed all of these steps and you snowman is fully assembled place in the fridge to set for 30 minutes to an hour depending on how much icing sugar you've used. After it has been in the fridge, before serving add 2 little arms made out of pretzels

To do so you must pre-heat you oven to 350 degrees and line 2 cookie sheets with grease proof paper. After you've done this cream butter&sugar together for 4-5 minutes to ensure it's light and fluffy.Mix in the egg, vanilla and almond extracts in a separate bowl and whisk together dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until smooth. Dough will be thick.Make three sizes of cookie dough balls: 1 teaspoon, 2 teaspoons, and 3 teaspoons. (You should have an even number of each.) Place medium and large cookies on a cookie sheet and press down slightly on each. Bake until center looks mostly cooked, 7 to 8 minutes. Place smallest balls of dough on another cookie sheet and press down slightly. Bake until center looks mostly cooked, 5 to 6 minutes. When cookies are done, remove from oven and let cool 2 to 3 minutes, then transfer to a cookie rack to finish cooling. Now to make your frosting: Beat butter until smooth. Add half the powdered sugar and mix until smooth. Add vanilla and 2 tablespoons water and mix until smooth. Add remaining powdered sugar and mix until smooth. Add green gel icing color (and mint flavouring if you wanted to)to frosting and mix until your desired shade of green.Assemble cookies: Get one size of each cookie. Fit a piping bag with a medium sized star piping tip (I used Wilton 32) and fill bag with green frostingPipe a swirl of frosting onto the largest cookie, then add the second medium sized cookie on top. Pipe a swirl of frosting onto the second cookie, then top with the smallest cookie. Pipe a swirl on top of the final cookie and decorate with a star and round ornament sprinkles. Continue building cookie trees, then refrigerate until ready to serve.

01.Pour the wine and 600ml water into a pan. Add all the other ingredients, apart from the pears, put over a low heat, then stir until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil, then simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and leave to infuse for 15 minutes.
02.Return the pan to the heat, then add the pears. Bring to a gentle simmer and submerge the pears in the liquid for 35-40 minutes, turning occasionally, until just cooked and ruby red. Remove to a bowl and set aside to cool.
03.Bring the poaching liquid back to the boil and reduce by half (to about 500ml) until slightly syrupy. Cool a little before pouring over the pears. Cool completely before serving.
