         <description><![CDATA[<div>Although other philosophies and religions, and indeed Chinese society at the time as a whole were Patriarchal, Daoism accepted femininity as an essential part of the universe. Dao was referred to as the mother of the universe, and women were allowed to also fill the same roles in the religion as men. Ancient writings show that women often joined to escape the miscegenation that the Confucian culture at the time espoused.</div>]]></description>
