2. Students are interacting with the world through an advanced level of media and technology. Students need more advanced levels of media literacy rather than non-fiction and fiction literacy. 

3. Students are reading to learn at a younger age rather than learning how to read. Students today have personal computers and email. Instead of overhead projectors and blackboards, students and teachers have access to Smartboards and other technology.
