Something that I found disturbing in this weeks assigned pages is right in the beginning, I think on page 103. Finding out that a body was outside for 28 hours. No cover, not being moved, and not being tended too. Hearing that it was snowing broke my heart. Brian had to see his son like that, knowing there was nothing that is going to change for him. I don't know what Brian is feeling, seeing his son laying out on the grass without getting any attention.

In this section of the book there were many things that were disturbing and interesting. But the one thing that is stuck in my head is the story regarding Dave. Just reading about the story and what the students and staff were told to do. How long it took for them to get to Dave. It was just sad to me. This whole event is sad but that just stuck out to me. Because, by the time the SWAT team and Paramedic got to him it was too late.

In this section of the book, to me the most disturbing part was after the shootings the bodies of the victims stayed where they were killed for many days. Especially, the two victims that were outside that laid there through snow and their bodies were not moved for hours upon hours. I felt terrible for the parents of the students who were killed or even the wife of the teacher that was killed. The parents were stuck outside or not able to see their kid makes me sad because I could only imagine the way the parents were feeling during that time.

There has been many interesting and disturbing things in the book but the most interesting or disturbing thing that stood out to me in pages 101 to 148 was how the body of the boy stayed outside on the sidewalk for 28 hours. He wasn’t covered or moved. I just find this very disturbing because Brian the dad of his son was probably super worried and wondering if his son was going to make it out of the school and he saw his son laying on the sidewalk and the officer wouldn’t let Brian go to him and as a parent I couldn’t imagine what that felt like knowing you kid is laying their and there is nothing he can do about it. This is extremely sad and disturbing.

The most disturbing thing I found in this section so far like most people is how the bodies of some of the victims stayed outside for over a day. This is disturbing to me for a few reasons. The first reason being that a dead body was left sitting on a sidewalk for more than a day. That is crazy and disturbing enough by itself, but you also have to put into consideration that the body was the body of a child and the parents had to have been so worried about their child just to see their child laying dead in the sidewalk. It is extremely sad and very disturbing.

I think the most interesting and disturbing part of this section of the book is that they left bodies of people who had been killed outside in the snow or just where they laid for over a day. I don't know if there was a big reason for it maybe they had one I just know it didn't go over the reason in the book. If you think of the pain that the parents and significant others felt because they couldn't see the body's of their love ones it is just wrong to me in so many ways.

On page 120, it talked about how they made the witnesses go back through the school and recreate the attack. I found it interesting on how they made the victims relive a traumatic experience. They didn’t even bother clean it up the blood. It also mentioned that they tried to recreate all the shouts, the screams, and the acrid smell of smoke. Just for the victims to relive all that trauma again. Mr. D was the first one who entered the school again and he was unfazed. It doesn’t mention how the other victims reacted to it.

They probably had the option to go back in and relive the trauma but if that was me in their shoes, I don’t believe I would've gone back in.

He was the FBI's best hostage negotiator who happened to retire in Littleton. His son Brian was attending Columbine and this is the reason the FBI played a significant role in the investigation.

Reading this book, there has not been a section that has not stood out to me. The more you read, the more things unfold and surprise you. In the beginning of part two on page 103, it discusses that Danny, one of the victims, was left outside in the elements (including snow) for twenty-eight hours. They did not want to bring him in for fear that he could be "booby trapped". I do not agree with that because his poor parents had to see him lay out in the open and become weathered. They deserved to put him to peace. Another part that surprised me is that the parents of the victims had to wait so long to even find out that their children were murdered during the attack.

The most interesting thing had to be on pages 120-122 on how they made witnesses reenact the whole shooting sequence inside the school where they had been through what seems to be as one of the worst school shootings in history. In my eyes, I would feel bad putting those kids back into what they are traumatized by and will be for a long time. It's hard to go back to places that have bad memories in general, let alone a school massacre shooting. Otherwise the whole book seems to stand out to me so far.

It seems like a lot of people are writing about the precautions the police took when they left Brian's lifeless body for a long period of time. Understandable that the imagery of the authors passage upsets readers given it's disturbing nature and the apparent lack of care for the dead student. However, that assumption neglects context as police were at least somewhat aware of the "masterminds" the two were when it came to planning out the attack. Ofcourse it's a terrible thought for the parents to have to watch their lifeless son without being able to run to his aid Yet, I could only assume the police had justifiable reasoning for what they did in the name of safety. Still, one can't help but imagine the mental pain this puts all the parents of the victims through.

The way the author continues to describe events makes it feel as if I was there. Specifically as families of victims become notified of the deaths I felt sadness, anger, and almost trace amounts of nausea. When Dave Sanders' wife Linda and Danny's dad Brian becomes aware was most likely when those feelings hit hardest. It just felt so real even though I've never experienced anything like it in my life. It was almost like for a split second reading about a family that passed away. It was difficult to read for a short period of time because it was so easy to feel how those people felt.

The thing that stuck in my head the most throughout these chapters, was how they had some students go back in the building after the event, to walk through what had happened. If I was in this situation, idk if I could ever step foot in there after dealing with an event this traumatizing. Another aspect I find disturbing was how they investigated it, specifically with body placement and leaving people where they were for 24+ hours. If I was a parent, I would be so hurt knowing that my kid was still laying in their own cold blood.

One thing I’ve found interesting so far is the disparity between Dylan and Eric’s personalities. Eric seems to have a lot more personality disorders and is somehow genuinely disgusted with other people. While Dylan obviously also had some sort of emotional disorder and it almost seemed like he was taken advantage of by Eric. Obviously, it's no excuse for his actions but he did not seem as keen on killing people as Eric was, more like he was along for the ride. I also feel very badly for their parents. No one should have to experience such a tragic loss of their child, or the loss of a child at all really, but that’s just not how the world works. It's odd how Eric’s parents remained so secretive after the shooting, although understandable. Almost seems like the whole family was a little odd.

Honestly I think the thing that gets me is how everyone had a general idea of who had been killed but still didn't if that makes sense. Like I find the way the brain works in traumatic incidents like this one interesting. You should know some things, but to help you your brain makes the decision to omit things to be able to make sense of what's happening. Along with that, Dylan and Eric are very different. Eric is obviously a true sociopath, but Dylan is like the opposite to an extreme. Dylan gets too emotional, and is easily manipulated. Obviously what they did is not okay, but I think in some ways Dylan is a victim to Eric as well.
