One teacher designed units where her students could choose which projects they want to do, and even got to pick their own groups. This allows students to work hands-on in an interest that they love, and prompts a positive learning environment.

One teacher allowed older students to work with younger students. This sets a positive example for younger students, also allowing them to build confidence and to ask for help when needed. One teacher worked with a university to connect his students to real life patients. Allowing them to work on prosthetic limbs, and connect with really world issues. And opening doors and interest for students to explore.

I saw one teacher work together with their history teacher on places they will learn in history class. The teacher allowed her student to use minecraft as a creative outlook to build and learn about the place that will be taught in history class. This collaboration with the teachers allowed the students to learn and expand their knowledge in two classrooms, making greater understanding and success for their students.

One teacher used her own experience to teach her students about waste problems around the world. And her and her students' problem solved ways to reuse trash. She then was able to record her students making jump ropes out of plastic bags, and was able to share that to high school students in Senegal Africa. I think it is super empowering for students, because it plants the seed of being helpful and collaborating with people around the world. And expands children's minds.

In today's age kids are growing up with tech, so having them in taking these everyday tools apart alone teaches practical and vocational skills. Then having them work in groups allowed for other to have input with one another allowing them to achieve a variety of learning goals. My favorite part was the end where they challenged the student's to repair computers with no info whatsoever.
