Pretty much as soon as the US began their fight in Vietnam, there were those at home who began a fight against the fight in Vietnam. Groups like the SDS fought to end the war by organizing rallies like the "March on Manhattan" or protests at college campuses. One such rally ended in tragedy as the National Guard started firing into the crowd at Kent State University on May 4, 1971, killing 4 people and wounding 9 more. A lot of the construction workers also continuously chanted "U.S all the way".
