During Lent we often see wreaths with 4 candles around the edges that are colored purple and pink. These candles represent the four weeks of advent leading up to Christmas. On every Sunday during Advent we light a candle reminding us that there is hope, peace, love, joy in the world and that Jesus "is the light of the world." (John 8:12)

The actual word Advent comes from the Latin word "adventus" which means "coming" or "arrival". And as we know Advent serves as a time of spiritual preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ. So yes indeed the words are related in context of our faith and knowledge of Advent.
