Emmeline's legacy was one that many women today couldn't live without. Emmeline set the standards for how women should be looked at. She belived that all people, no matter race, no matter gender should be treated and looked at all the same, no exceptions. She fought for what she truly believed in, in her mind there was no other way then to fight for her rights. If they wouldn't listen, she and her comrades had to do much more then just speak, so they did.

Emmeline's biggest goal was to get women to be able to vote. All the other things leading up to that moment should be looked at as great achievements, like when she gave her speech "Freedom or death". But none of that adds up to the way the women felt when all of their hard work and pain was finally recognized. They got the movement passed on August 18, 1920, and women were finally allowed to vote!

The biggest struggles Emmeline faced were being thrown in jail numerous times, for protesting. Emmeline and her group the WSPU were often thrown in jail for protesting the government, or being destructive to numerous properties. They threw pebbles at the congress office, and sometimes through bricks. They stopped at nothing, so struggles were never really a big thing to Emmeline.

The WSPU started after Emmeline's husband, Richard Pankhurst past away. She threw herself into the women's suffrage movement and decided to create a new group. Emmeline once had a Women's Franchise league but it fell apart the same year it was made. So this time she made sure it was perfect. She called the group "The Women's Social and Political Union" also known as the WSPU.
