hi madam..and ey up everyone:) I'm miza *_<
.

Q1:Both mechanical digestion and chemical digestion are necessary for the digestion of foods and beverages into pieces and molecules that are small enough to be absorbed in the small intestine.

Mechanical digestion involves the process of physically breaking down the food into ever smaller parts. The major player in mechanical digestion is mastication, which is the act of chewing and using the teeth to break the food into pieces small enough to be swallowed into the esophagus. Generally begins in the mouth. There are also muscles in the stomach wall that contribute to mechanical digestion. We can see the larger food turning into ever smaller pieces by the action of the teeth.

Chemical digestion means food is broken down into small molecules by chemical energy. One big part of chemical digestion involves the enzymes located in stomach. They begin to break down food as soon as it enters the stomach.Chemical digestion actually starts in the mouth when our saliva mixes in with the food. Saliva has an enzyme known as amylase that is important in breaking down carbohydrates. As an enzyme, amylase is a type of protein that undergoes a biochemical reaction to change one molecule into another molecule. Most chemical digestion, however, occurs within the stomach, with some happening in the intestines. The hydrochloric acid, located in the stomach, works for the purposes of chemical digestion.Chemical digestion is completely invisible. In the process of chemical digestion, starches we eat are turned into simple sugars. Pepsin turns large proteins into peptides, which are turned into amino acids for absorption.

One of the example of the mechanical digestion is mastification also called chew that occurs in mouth.Beside that,Peristalsis takes place in esophagus and intestines, it is responsible to transport foods that had been chewed .
Hi everyone, assalamualaikum madam azlin and fellow classmates.. my name is alya from AS1162A2.. so far, what i know about chemical and mechanical digestion in Question 1 is food that undergoes chemical digestion and mechanical digestion which occurs in stomach. Mechanical digestion churns the bolus which mixes with strong digestive juices that the stomach lining cells secrete (chemical digestion). in simple meaning if that is, Mechanical digestion involves in the physical breaking down of food into smaller units while chemical digestion is the secretions of substances from many organ in digestive system takes place .

my answer is: food is broken down by two actions, Mechanical and Chemical digestion. Mechanical digestion is broken down the food into the pieces of food. Then, for the chemical digestion is broken down the pieces of food to the small molecules. Small molecules contains nutrients molecules which is enter the body cells while undigested material is eliminated.

:Esophagus is about 9-10 inches or 25 centimeter

:Cells in the lining of the stomach secrete a strong HCL and powerful enzymes that are responsible for the breakdown process.

:Pancreas secretes pancreatic juice (enzymes and bicarbonate) into the duodenum, the first segment of the small intestine.

:The function of bile is to digest fats and other lipid, relies on the production of bile.

for the question 1,the meaning of mechanical digestion is actually have two type which is mastication or chewing and peristalsis, okay let's we start the chewing process first. The chewing process is which process begin to breaking down the food into nutrients. For your information the chewing process is important part in digestive process because the small pieces it will easily to digested through chemical digestion.Meanwhile the peristalsis is simply the involuntary contraction responsible for the movement of food through the esophagus and intestine.

Next, for the chemical process is the process which have digestive enzyme and water are responsible to breakdown the complex molecule like fats, protein and carbohydrate into smaller molecule. Then the smallest molecule can be absorbed for use by cells.
