In July i got a tiny cardon cactus at a local Sprouts. Like all of my other cactus it was doing quite well, that was, until i replanted it. Because the soil got too much moisture, the roots and a little bit of the stem began to rot. I cut off the roots and rotten spot before taking a vacation to Flagstaff with my family.
Not immediately repotting the cardon allowed the wounds to heal. Over a week after leaving Flagstaff, I returned home. I checked on the cardon and put it in a glass of water to root. After a few weeks, new roots and growth appeared! Now it is doing amazing in a bin full of gravelly soil. What is special about the cardon is that it will become the largest cactus in the world, however, it will take several decades for it to reach a good size. I guess i need a little bit more patience!

Feeding my pet Asian forest scorpion requires lots of waiting, patience, and skill. Sometimes it decides that not eating for a month or more is best for itself, and it is a natural behavior, but it gets on my nerves. Once, the scorpion did not eat for 5 months and I was worried sick. It wasnt until 4 months ago did the scorpion begin to eat roaches again. Patience is a must with this stubborn pet!

The monsoon season is a brief yet spectacular moment of summer thunderstorms in the mostly dry Phoenix AZ. Some years the monsoon doesn't even come, not only making that year unbearable, but also making the year monsoon does come more exciting.
